Afternoon all,
I thought it best to set up a thread for #422 instead of posting on the register.
Having owned the car for almost 2 weeks I can say I'm quite impressed. It needs a bit of TLC like most 10 year cars but that was part of the appeal of ownership and the fact I've always wanted one.
My plan was to wash the car on Sunday after having it out and the weather being mild for a change, however my K'archer has sprung a leak and is out of action.
I did take a few photos:-
Overall the car is in decent shape. The previous owner had 2 alloys refurbished and they are on opposite sides of the car which the eagle eyed of you will spot. I need/want to remove the Nurburgring sticker as I just looks wrong and no my thing.
A few bits of plastic trim need replaced, the rear bumper insert and the front scuttle :-
I also need to address the interior plastic trim and the steering wheel. In time I'll get the wheel retrimmed but not sure what style/materials I'll go for. I will be on the lookout for replacement standard interior trim with the view of spraying the current set anathracite similar to the alloys just to be a bit different but with having the option to revert back if I don't like it.
Yesterday I collected a few bits to make a start on my to do list.
Before:-
After:-
Two small jobs but that's them off the list and didn't break the bank.
The 1st owner (making an assumption here) had this fitted:-
It looks like an aerial/antenna not sure what it is for plus there is a small jack hanging in the passenger footwell. Any ideas?
I don't want to rip it off just now but I do need to investigate if they are connected.
Having said the car is in decent shape I need to get the front wing sorted as it's sporting a few scuffs, still visible through the dirt:-
I have the car booked in at SWR in Stirling on the 8th March where a huge chunk of my to do list will get done. The cambelt isn't due for another year but the car hasn't been serviced since late 2014 and 1 key so I will get the following done:-
Cambelt & aux belt
Waterpump
Dephaser
Oil & oil filter
Air filter
Pollen filter
Spark plugs
Gearbox oil
Power steering fluid
New key programmed
Plus a good going over, if anything needs replaced now is the time to do it whilst I have the funds available.
I have to say I was blown away by the price SWR quoted for the above work without the key programming £720! £200 cheaper than a well known specialist equal distance away. SWR will discount the key programming since they will have the car all day.
I will try my best to keep this update especially after I tick off jobs on the "To do list" but I hope most of my time is spent enjoying it.
Fingers crossed this long winded post hasn't bored you all to tears, thanks for reading.
