Clio trophy - Wanted

Hi Clio Trophy owners,

Currently after a 182 Clio Trophy.
Please let me know if you're selling or considering selling (so we can keep in touch when you decide to as I'm in no incredible rush) but funds ready.

Ideally after one with <80k miles with a solid service and maintenance (belts/dampers etc) history that has not had any previous accidents. Happy to wait out for the right example.

I've had my mk2 Golf GTI for a while now and its been a great car (and project) but its time to move on. Speaking to the other half we can justify putting some extra cash towards a trophy as the car will be a 'keeper'. We've always wanted one and plan on doing some European/Highlands road trips along with some track days here in the UK + N'ring and Spa.

Look forward to getting one and starting a thread on here of its ownership. Been enjoying reading through the forum so far!

Don't pay too much attention, it's an extreme example of what happens when you choose the wrong specialists (and I use the term loosely) to carry out work on your behalf. And a bit of bad luck thrown in for good measure! Regardless, they are great cars and I hope you find yourself in a worthy example soon. Just don't go modifying it... (at least, not too heavily!)

I felt in physical pain when I read through the thread, he’s been very unlucky!

There’s no denying they’re old cars and can be expensive to run compared to something newer or less capable. Periodic shock absorber rebuilds, the major belt services and general wear and tear for a 15 year old car (still can’t believe they’re that old) does add up, but I promise it’s worth it.

Grin factor, a character and raw ability, there’s very little that comes close to these.

They needn’t be money pits at all .. I’ve had mine 5 years and all it’s needed has been Tyres and Brakes and oil changes.. Just be sure to give the car and it’s history a good research .. Good Luck

Yep the intention is to keep the car stock (those famous last words) as the car would be a long term keeper.

If I want to turbo it, remind me I need to resist temptation and save up for an R26 to add to the stable instead

The Trophy for sale from AM Performance is #152 but, as @jarjarmustdie mentioned, it has seen slight accident damage (Cat D, 2008) and subsequently repaired.

I looked at that last night > not sure how they can declare themselves RS specialists -

- Suspension not serviced
- No splitter
- Exhaust doesn't fit the recess properly
- Budget tyres.

I would swerve that & find a decent one

£6500 + bringing it up to condition would cost about £8k.

I won't argue that it has issues but £8k to bring it to standard?

Thats £8k all in inc purchase !
If you pay £6500 for it as there is no offers.

To bring it to OEM proper spec

£350-£400 Michelin tyres
£250 New OEM splitter
£500 -£750 For suspension at BG ( might be cheaper at Cornering force ) + labour
Remove & refit exhaust + any parts required.

Your not far off 1.5k.

As Said thats without anything else req of which there always is...

My bad Steve, I read that as eight on top of purchase! (in my defence it's a sunday morning and tree pollen is giving me a proper kicking) £1500 is probably conservative if you include damper service.

Thanks @jarjarmustdie but yes as its a category D it wasn't one I'd consider, plus as others have said its been priced rather strong considering there are few bits that need doing on it.
Running a car like this (or any performance orientated car) on non-premium tyres is a shame tbh. Surely would take away from the experience.
