They're like the Forth Bridge, the list never ends...

Ah yes ....

Came to look at the brakes and one of the seals on the front calipers was knackered

So a new seal and piston kit seemed in order.
Plus a full on scrub up seemed sensible.

On closer inspection even though the discs had plenty of meat on them there was loads of micro fractures.

So should really change them as pads are close to the end of their life.

Had a look at the rears as well. Whilst better than the fronts thought we had clean them up too..

In the end decided for brand new calipers and also to refurbish the rears and new discs all round .

Then some paint on the brackets will be next stage and deciding which disc pad combo is the best option.

After chatting with Ktec and Andy Cochrane they suggested the best combination of Pads and discs were the high carbon fronts with some Carbon Lorraine 5plus pads.

These are smooth / no vanes and are kinder to the CL pads which can be. A tad crumbly

They have arrived and look so much better on . The rears also come with a new bearing so that is done as well.

The rears

The fronts

That should make a big difference and hopefully less squeaky

CL5s will still squeal unless used with intent.

You are so right they certainly used to be super noisy but for now at least they are whisper quiet in comparison when disc and pads are super new.

The main man himself. Always a great pleasure dealing with Andy. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Hopefully when things are a little more back to 'normal' Andy will be able to recommission my Trophy which has been in professional storage and needs new fluids and cam-belt etc.

Well got hold of one of the last of the unobtainium !
A pair of front bump stops from a place in France ( thanks very much to whoever posted in here the link for that)

Also had to get a new ABS wheel sensor. Imagined that would be a fairly standard commodity part but no.
Andy Cochrane eventually managed to find maybe the last new old stock one in Glasgow somewhere. Parts are getting harder to find now !
Also had a fog light cracked from a stone chip so that was replaced too.

So I reckon now all that is left is a proper professional wheel refurb and a full detailing.

With that the task at the start of this thread will be complete and can focus on building the Innocenti next !

Clio is looking very well.

Seeing that Mini is bringing back some very painful and expensive memories,
I don't envy you on that one ;)

Being an Innocenti, I'm guessing it came from Italy, so there might have been a bit less rust and rot to deal with
compared to a home market car...hopefully.

Oh there was a lot of rust - pretty much everything below the waistline has bee. Replaced apart from bulkheads !
