Hi,

My Clio has just failed its MOT due to a missing CAT. not really a surprise, and not really sure how I missed it!

The car has a PMS system which has been decatted. Has anyone else got a PMS system and had similar issues? do you guys just buy the Cat they sell and fit it for MOTs?

I assume a standard Cat won't slot in?

Can either fit an OEM cat with the PMS derestriction kit which not only removes the restriction from your OEM cat but fits up to the PMS system. This is cheapest if you already have a 182 cat as the adapter is £60 plus getting it welded on. Failing that, the cheapest new cat you'll get to fit easily will be the PMS cat. :)

If you can afford a pms then go for it.. 182 cats use to be £40 second hand.. I believe that has since spiralled so a PMS isn’t as mental in comparison anymore.

Don't try and buy a new genuine CAT, It will set you back £2,652 incl VAT.

Even second hand ones are now hard due to people paying £400/500/600 for them for the scrap value.

I would also ask in the last 12 months have you changed any of the following -

Spark Plugs
HT Leads
Coil Pack
Injectors
O2 Sensor (Lambda Sensor)
