Anything that is more "Fun" than a Trophy?

This is a bit of an open ended question which came to mind as I went on a drive with some friends recently. I have owned and driven a lot of cars and the Trophy always seems to be something I used as a baseline/reference for fun. What cars do you fellow Trophy owners find more fun than the Trophy? The only car I can think of is a Lotus Elise/Exige.

2014 supersport , little Ford 1.6 with 140bhp at the front, LSD and skinny 185’s at the back with just over 500kg make it quite fun!

Ahh yes I do like a good Caterham, one with a ITB 3SGE BEAMs would be a dream! I guess to specify, something that is usable/practical like the Clio would be ideal.

The GT4 can be a lot of fun, even more so than the Trophy. However, the GT4 is also a lot more sensitive to road and weather conditions in which case the Trophy often is the better - and more fun - car to drive.

My current caterham is not road legal (420r) but I used to have one I used on the roads. Epic cars

The GT4 can be a lot of fun, even more so than the Trophy. However, the GT4 is also a lot more sensitive to road and weather conditions in which case the Trophy often is the better - and more fun - car to drive.

No where near a GT4 today Andy but in the Mid 90s this thing was a beast - Cup adjustable suspension - Super chipped - 17 inch Cup alloys on P-Zero's - When rolling it was very quick and cornered like a Big Go-Cart.

Lovely, Nick - the Porsche 944 was quite the head turner (and still is when you see a nice one today!)

I dont know if this qualifies as most people might consider it a bit more extreme than a Trophy but are there any Elise owners on here?

I have always wanted to try one but it's never happened (like a lot of cars unfortunately).

I would imagine something like a 172 Cup is a little bit more hardcore than a Trophy as well.

I have driven cars like my brothers EK9 and FD2 Type-R's when he had them many years ago.Both brilliant cars but each have their own little flaws as most cars tend to.

One of the most scary cars I’ve driven is a Mapped VX220 Turbo in the dark and pissing it down - The lights are poor and the wiper are shit and all the car wanted to do was throw me of the road - I nearly ended up in my local KFC once and I don’t mean the drive through.

There really are some great cars that drive so differently which I’ve been lucky to drive really hard over the years - Cars really are amazing things and even though I’ve now grown up they still put a smile on your face.

1985 911 Turbo ( very scary ) 1986 BMW M5 ( No grip in the rain again on the MTX tyres ) Subaru P1 ( did make you feel like it wanted to under steer compared to a Standard Turbo or RB5) Sierra 3dr Cosworth / 190E Cosworth - Brooklands Capri Turbo Technics - 928s4 manual - 80s/90s stuff was the bst time in my view due to less driver aids and not as many bollards.

Today my friend came to see me who was a really good car trader but now deals in watches ( Even Tom Hartley Senior said the same words to his son Carl when we bumped into him at the Goodwood auctions a few years back ) however he has a like new 2003 Merc SL500 14k in Bright Red (Number Plate PWY 1 ) which I got washed off for him today - you don’t have to spend a fortune sometimes to get stunning car that people appreciate.

Bonkers fun for me was at castle combe in my mates Hayabusa turbo Radical.

Ariel Atom sequential at Bedford Aerodrome Andy - like driving a old 911 with all the weight over the back wheels ( Slow in fast out ) - Really Great fun.

My best mate has a 06 Elise 111S sitting on Nitron suspension and AD08R with which I've been lucky to take on track days and use on extended loans when I fly back to Aus for a visit. They are an amazing car but definitely on the more extreme end as a road car. On the open road it is fantastic, on a busy city road you spend a lot of time being nervous about other drivers as you sit below their window line.

Agree on the sentiment regarding subaru's as I had a 02 V7 Sti, that thing felt like understeer heaven until you could load it up enough to neutral steer around a corner.

90s/early 00s cars are my go to. Crazy how little the 00s Merc SL go for nowadays.
