Not quite sure of the point of this post, maybe just a sound off, get it off your chest kinda thing lol.

So I was looking for an exhaust upgrade, a nice shiny stainless steel one, one that will last. Uhmm..

Done a bit of research on here, found some good reviews of one and thought, that's it, I'll go for that.

Booked her in, February 2 years ago.
After a 2 hour drive I arrived. Place a little disorganised. Waited. All done a few hours later. Twin tail pipes not aligned straight, one set back against the other, minor discount credited.

Fast forward 12 months. Leak from weld on tail pipes in back box.
I texted the problem. No reply. I called. No answer. I should have pushed more.

So just over 2 years from fitting, I now a complete failure with tail pipes broken away from the back box. Admittedly I shouldn't have left it that long.

After paying over £600 the weld shouldn't failed within 12 months.
Not sure it's cost effective for a 4 hour round trip to fix it, that's if he's up for it.

I may try to see what they about a remedy to the problem.
Alternatively I maybe better source a stainless steel welder locally.

I 'll try post a picture but not sure on my phone.

Any others have after market exhaust failures? 20200601_201447.jpg

That looks really poor.

What exhaust is it?

This is my BTM?Yozasport system which has been on my car for 7 years and approx. 60k miles.
I did have to have a mount welded last year as it just started to fatigue and i had it plated to repair.

looks nice and tidy under there frayz, nice and shiny. Yours is going well, not much required in after care.

I did think about your Yoza but I was thinking it would be a little too loud for me.

I think I will give them a chance to see what they say regards fixing the pipes back on before I say more, though I'm too keen on a 5 hour journey just for a re-weld, when locally I could get that done.

I doubt I would receive any travel expense you see. making the journey not cost effective.

For a 5 hour journey mate i would just get it done locally and cut your losses. Then flog the system and get something else that's of higher quality. If the cars a keeper for you then you will never look back and wish you had spent less.

I've not seen a big old back box like that before so not sure of the make but that weld is pretty shocking, though it's looks to be the metal around the weld that has failed? I do feel for you but suspect after two years the guy will not play ball and do you want to be spending that time getting the original supplier to sort if his first effort is an indication of what you are likely to get second time around.

Sorry to hear your experience, gutting to make the journey to try and get the best and then be let down with the work on the day then no after sales.

I'd consider naming and shaming after such an appalling experience, save others the same pain.

I'd get an opinion +/- quote from an exhaust specialist locally. If it's a write off then placate than oem ones only last a few years and get yourself a PMS!

To be honest I would bin it if you can afford it. If one weld has just let go after a year will the rest last a lot longer.

Thanks for all your replies, appreciate all of your inputs.

I can't hide the fact that I am bitterly disappointed and feel let down by the workmanship.

Given I noticed the leak within 12 months, and failure at 24months, I cant afford to bin the £600 I paid for it!!!

So rather than drive down to Cardiff :censored: seeking the fix, which I believe is just a dodgy weld, I will chase up the decent contacts of professional exhaust experts to re-weld this, unless in their opinion it is deemed un repairable.

So it was a Pro Speed unit? I am really surprised about that, I thought they supplied a unit with two small tubular backboxes. Really poor advert for them if it is one of theirs.

Btw, IF it is a Prospeed unit do they not offer a lifetime guarantee?

Wow - if it is ProSpeed then I've never seen them make a system like that! I regretted selling mine as it was superb over the decade I had it. Not a single problem and it came with a lifetime (and transferable) guarantee.

Get it fixed locally to you and don't bother wasting your time to go there and have it fixed.

yeah agree with the comments above regarding getting it fixed locally. Probably be an hour or two work to re-weld it correctly. Could always check/clean up the other welds too whilst you are at it. My car has an original yozza sport and has since 2011 I believe, not bad sound levels wise (mind you i've come from a full titanium exhaust on a honda so may be skewed).

@frayz the undercarriage of your car is absolutely mint!!

Charly at prospeed offer a life time guarantee - so if it's a prospeed, then I'd be getting a quote from a local specialists of stainless steel 'zorsts and contacting charly to see if he'll honor the fixing.

Pretty poor quality from the pics and mines been on for 15 years, so surprised the quality has dropped to be honest.

I really like the design of the BTM exhaust, I have the earlier Yozzasport design supplied by BTM and it’s been fault free for well over 8 years now.

Before that I had a Scoprion RS192 fitted and the welds on the Centre section failed rather quickly, fortunately it was replaced under warranty without any fuss.

Had a Janspeed system fitted to the Trophy approx. 7 years ago and after months of experiencing a rattle at high revs I couldn't work out what it was. Replaced several bolts in the heats shields, upgraded exhaust mounts, engine and gearbox mounts only to take it to a specialist and diagnosed as damaged baffles inside the silenced centre section.

Mine #414 has had the Milltek cat back exhaust on it since March 2009 at 34,000 miles, fitted by a previous owner. Still on there now at 112,800 miles however some of the battles in tailpipes have started to brake up and hangers cracking generally looking tired now, did have repairs in Dec 2015 to hangers and centre section after cat, good going really although needs replacing soon.

so just to draw some closure on this.

After much deliberating I decided to call Charlie and explain the issue I had with my exhaust.

Giving credit where it was due, he couldn't have been any nicer. After discussing this and explaining some options, he was very happy for me to source a repair locally and he would foot the bill!! Also to add in fairness, he never once questioned whether I was genuine or not. Took it on the chin so to speak.

so I booked in at a recommended exhaust specialist. Work carried out , with a re-weld into back box, sealed a minor leak and also added further support rod to back box.

I confirmed all the issues I had with pictures of original fitting (2018) with before and after pictures of the work carried out.

invoice sent, and prompt payment received from Pro-speed.

So all in all, a result for me , and credit of sorts for pro-speed.

Must say, many thanks for all those that replied to me on here, much appreciated.

Cant say fairer than that!
I have absolutely no experience of Pro-Speed at all but that outcome speaks volumes for their integrity.
Glad you're happy and your Trophy is at full health again :)

Happy to hear about the outcome, was worried as I have the original development exhaust he made for the 182 and it will need some TLC in the not too distant future and while a trip to cardiff can make for good day out, it's a hell of along way from Yorkshire lol.
