Looks like the auction sale fell through on the 205, now listed on eBay:

It looks like it knows its way up Harewood... A lot of the pics of of the hill, and its got the circuit outline on the hatch...

Just trading the spec Ed, sounds like its ideal for what you were going to do.

Just curious as well, ad says it has drums on the rear, not discs?

It'll be a great car for someone to have a go with I agree Francis.

I was confused by the rear brakes too, as I was sure the 1.9's had discs. Some early 1.6's had drums if I recall correctly, so perhaps someone's stuck a 1.6 beam on it at some point of it's life? Or it's intentional to create a distinct front brake bias for competition work?

I'll be honest, it's way beyond my self imposed budget at the £10k they want for it though and I've done some digging on the times it's been posting on the hill. It's a good 10 to 15 seconds slower than a well driven and sorted Clio 182, so it's not going to be that competitive in class in my view.

I know my way better around the Clio's these days too, and let's be honest, they are a much quicker car with less effort and expense needed which is why I've gone in that direction. It was either that or another classic Mini Francis... ;) :D

IMG_1720.jpegIMG_0257_Original.jpegIMG_2157.pngI caught the Hill/Sprint bug in the early 90s with my Jaguar Kougar which fell into the sports libra class.
Big bucks required to do well in this segment of trailered race cars, but enjoyed the experience for a couple of seasons with a road legal car.

Time passed and I had another good run for many years with my Z in the maximum road going Category.
Even with her forced induction output of over 500bhp the honed 4x4 rally cars were sublime.

The best fun I had was thrashing round in my well sorted 182 BG on sticky Yokohamas. We won a few trophies together.

@Ajracer Some fine machinery and no doubt happy memories there Andy! I never realised you competed with the BG Clio.

I'm a complete novice to it, though I did build up a Mini to Hillclimb in my early 20's, circumstances unfortunately dealt a blow which meant it never happened. A blown diff just as the engine was run in, then a house purchase curtailed any sort of Hillclimb fun. Reckoned I'd better have a go now before I get too old & any greyer!

It’s a shame GeorgeK is not still on the site, he used to hillclimb his trophy in “out of the box” class but was constantly looking at ways to tweak the undercarriage etc. In the end he swapped it out for a Honda something as it was just not competitive enough in class. Still racing though, I believe.
He would have been a good source of technical info and hands on advice.
