I'm somewhere in between minds on these 'collector' cars. I like the fact that a small proportion of a limited run is maintained 'as new' with incredibly low mileage
Hopefully those 11k miles were enjoyable ones which is better than 70k motorway miles on a Trophy - completely pointless and even...
Mine (259) and my brother's (308) are both located in north west England. The standard bits (recaros, sachs, turinis etc) are present on both cars. The only modifications are the exhaust systems (I have a Yozzasport and he has a Scorpion RS192)
£4.5k to £5k seems very cheap for a Trophy with all the big jobs done quite recently. If someone buys it at that price they are getting a steal IMO
The only real bargaining point a buyer would have is the wheels
I update mine on an annual basis but am happy to share any information for your project :)
I have a pretty clean example though, not sure if owners with less history would feel as comfortable but we will see
I’ve got a Mk 7 Golf R and a Trophy and my twin brother had an S4 and a Trophy
The Golf R is definitely fastest on the road, the S4 is the best mile muncher and the Trophy is the best drive for sheer enjoyment
Not sure I could drive a Trophy every day though after spending so much time in...
I had use of an Integra for about a year or so when my brother was travelling and can agree that it's an incredible car. Looking forward to reading the magazine, I've bought Modern Classics since issue #1 - it's a great read
Thanks for the replies guys. I spoke to Andy at Birchdown earlier so will look to get it in asap. Diamond Motors would be a 4 hour round trip I think so a bit of a stretch
I'll probably drop it off and find a local golf course. Hopefully it will done in the time it takes to play 18 holes :)
I'll resurrect this thread rather than start a new one
Belts are due now on time (only done 5k miles since last change) so I'm looking for somewhere in the North West to get them done
Birchdown is a pretty long round trip but is the sensible option of taking it there the only option? I have a...
Ha ha that's brilliant. I've always considered Trophy ownership like the conversation in Gremlins. People might think they are ready for a Mogwai/Trophy but they need to acknowledge the history and follow the rules
As I mentioned on the other thread I bought mine from Scotland, a place called Larbert. It was from a poster on here, I live in NW England so a pretty long trip
I planned it to co-incident with when my wife was away in the Isle of Man visiting family, got the train up there (only cost £20)...
I had to go to Scotland to get mine, you've got to make the effort if you want one with numbers being so limited
It was a beautiful drive home though :)
I don't think it is chav myself. For me chav is fake or displaying a lack of taste or integrity
If someone put stripes on a Trophy it would be chav, if they put them on a racing blue 182 it would not be chav. I realise that it's a fine line however
Are stripes on a Dodge Viper, a Ford GT40 or...
I saw a Vauxhall Vectra the other day with stickers on it that were like tears/rips with Union Jacks showing through. Also had big black stripes from nose to tail
Apologies to anyone that likes that crap on here but that sort of stuff is the definition of chavness for me (the flag also makes...
Ha ha, sounds about right. It's not all bad on there but there are quite a lot of people that don't know their history / heritage
I can't criticise though as an ex Subaru driver (x2). I was like the King of the Chavs back then and was constantly in conversation with headcases
Oh you'll sell it alright. Hold out for what you want - very much a sellers market at the moment
When I bought mine there were hardly any people coming on here looking for a Trophy - you can't go 5 minutes without one popping up at present
I think more and more of them are owned by people that are looking to keep them long term
I wouldn't part with mine for any price now to be honest. It might just be "a car" but I don't need the money so I'll keep it forever if I can. Hopefully I'll still be hooning around in it as an OAP thirty...
Googling is a great suggestion. I found loads of stuff on mine that helped me piece together it's history, a list of every owner etc
I even found a folder with loads of pictures taken when it was nearly new
Never met anyone that even knows what it is!
A while ago I had a Subaru Impreza Prodrive Style, 310 BHP, 0-60 in 4.52 seconds, massive spoiler etc. I used to get stopped all the time by people that wanted to talk about it - a lot of them were, erm, dodgy characters too. It was certainly interesting
