That is very interesting MarcR and makes a mockery of the offers my insurers have made to date. Thank you for that.
I’m about to send insurers some data analysis with a covering letter pleading for a fresh start in a cooperative and transparent spirit. Don’t know whether that is best...
We all know that Glass’s Guide is no guide to Trophy values, even though they do have a section entitled “Renault Clio 2.0 16v Renaultsport 182 Trophy”.
But, just a thought, what data if any does Glass’s Guide have access to that we do not? Anything over and above the adverts and forum...
Mikeyjp, was that for a Trophy or some other, less exclusive car? I’m with Acromas through Saga (yes, I’m an old git). I can’t help feeling that the course of my claim has gone wrong from the start because they have failed to understand what the car is. If they can’t understand what the car...
I’ve spent a good deal of time this week, time I could have spent more creatively, assembling an organised collection of articles and adverts. I haven’t dumped a big collection on them so far. Don’t know if that’s right strategy. They are displaying an inability to even understand what the...
Update: Today Insurers phoned with new offer after “research” - £4750. I said that is still unacceptable.
I said you could only get high mileage ones for that money. They said they had an advert for 36k mileage (“just like yours”) at £4490. I said send it to me.
A screen grab png of the...
On Monday I sent some evidence that Trophys do sell for £7000 to the Valuation people. Yesterday they phoned me with a revised offer (wait for it)…£3740. An increase of £360 over the last offer, wow!
Of course, I again said this is inadequate and the claim will now pass round the system...
Thanks for the link, 1in500. Also to all: once again thanks for the good advice and support. It is much appreciated. Re existing owners advertising for £8-10k – what a lovely thought. Wonder what insurers would make of that.
I’ve still had no response from my insurers or the recovery...
Update:
After waiting patiently for postal communication, as I was led to expect, I had to phone my insurers to enquire of status. They tried to contact recovery people (separate/associated company) but said their computer system was down. Then after a long hold, during which they apparently...
This morning the Recovery/Settlement people phoned and offered £3480. I said, that is nowhere near the value. They mentioned Glass’s guide, which I pounced on and said I’d spoken to someone at Glass’s guide (true) and we’d agreed their valuation is not accurate for this particular car. They...
Again, many thanks for the links and advice. You are great guys.
I emailed sales@allvehicles.co.uk - so far no reply. I also had a brief call from the Recovery/Settlement people – they wanted to know the mileage (don’t know why they didn’t have this from the Insurers). I asked them if they...
Police updated me today. There is nothing from their number plate system. They are awaiting fingerprint results from some articles but pending that (extremely slim chance) will be recommending closing the case. I really wish the car would be found but know it would need a miracle. That’s why...
I’ve not seen prices like £6500 to £8000, but like I said before, the adverts I’ve seen are for high mileage example. Please, please, if anyone has any evidence (links etc) for these prices please pass them on. I would be very grateful.
Glass’s online evaluation gives:
Trade in...
Yes, I’m expecting them to “try on” a quote for normal 182. Thanks for the advice.
From what few adverts I can find, the prices seem to be between £4000 and £5500, and many of these are high mileage (top end of 100k). Mine's only 34k.
I spoke to the insurers (Acromas Insurance Company Ltd) and apparently the value is somewhat open to negotiation: settlement people make a claim and I ether accept or give evidence that higher price is warranted.
Just found out that the insurers allow two weeks for the vehicle to possibly be recovered. Since that time has passed, the claim will now be passed to the Loss and Settlement people.
Has anyone any handle onto what settlement I should accept. The car was in excellent condition, had been...
I’m not sure how long the insurance rigmarole takes. The relevant documents have been sent and received and I was expecting someone to ring to explain the process but so far they haven’t.
I think you a right about the keys. Of course, one of the emotions after such an event is extreme anger...
None, zilch. The police have kept me updated but just really to prepare me for there being no good outcome.
I see over on cliosport.net they have got into a discussion about not leaving the keys where they can be picked up. Heck, we can all be wise after the event. And we can all beat...
I must say you guys are great. There’s no way I will recover car but just maybe there is some hope of getting a handle on what has happened to it. The feeling of being completely powerless to do anything about it is terrible.
I doubt the car was targeted as such. Mine wasn’t the only house...
Thanks for the tip, Mikeyjp, and also for copying my message to http://www.cliotrophy.co.uk/showthread.php?threadid=41286 .
Thanks also for the words of sympathy from others. It helps – a little.
Hello Trophy owners
My Clio Trophy, which I’ve had from new, was stolen this week. It was parked on the road just outside the house. During the night thieves broke into house front door and stole the keys. In the morning the car was gone.
Stolen from Nimrod Road, London SW16. Reg is LV55...

A while back I clipped my wing mirror reversing into a garage. Split a big chunk out of the black plastic moulding part of the mirror – the red housing, mirror and works are all fine. Like a fool I didn’t retrieve the missing pieces otherwise I’d glue them back in. Is...

I too have limited understanding but I do know that,
power = torque x engine-speed
That being so, how the heck can one be increased at the expense of the other at the same engine speed? If torque is increased so too is power and visa versa. You don’t need any complicated...
Not knowing much about this, but surely many of these pads would require different discs - running ceramic-based pads on OE disc? I’m interested in pads that can be used with OE discs but have less fade than OE pads and still give good feel/control on slippy surfaces.
Thanks for the info. fellas. Seems they (the link I gave) were just protecting themselves.
So, I’ll investigate the DS2500’s further. Also, came across this useful table for the Pagids - http://www.carpartsdata.com/htmlpages/techBRP03.htm
I do experience some brake fade on some of the back roads here (fast straights then sharp blind bends).
Ferodo DS2500 pads seem to be popular on this forum but I came across the following (see http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/prod ... lAodrFaCGQ )
