Im glad to help wherever I can. Ive been working on cars for almost 30 years and have had a lot of problems to fix on cars. Alot are people's bad workmanship. Some are just built badly by manufacturers. I wish I still had the mi16. Loved driving it but spent alot of time fixing it also

Ive ofter wondered if the driveshafts are the same between a standard 182 with no cup packs and a trophy? The reason im wondering is because there are 2 different wheel bearing sizes (1 for none cup pack & 1 for cup/trophy).

I had a noise in the same area and it turned out to be the power steering pump but that had more of a whistling noise and not as noisy. It could be the dephaser because ive heard they make alot of noise when on the way out. As to how the dephaser sounds I have no idea because ive not heard 1...

It's a massive shame to see another 1 off the road permanently. The damage is easily fixed but it's the cost of the repair and availability of new parts which probably hindered its chances.

Maybe some decent parts for someone when it's broken for spares

It will be a while before they are ever fitted because the ones on my cars are still in good condition but as I've learned, sometimes its best to buy stuff when it's available because alot of parts are slowly getting harder to source.

I have invested (amazon delivery pending) in a soda blaster gun (sodium bicarbonate aka baking soda/ bicarbonate of soda) I've done a bit of research and sand blasting and similar forms damage the surface slightly and pit it but soda is delicate and none damaging. I'm not sure if it will manage...
