The car seems really genuine and very well looked after from a fellow enthusiast. I was going to buy this but due to change of circumstances I bought a Panda 100 in the end.
Lowering is not always better, there are cases where a car rolls more when lowered due to the roll centre being wrong (been there and done it with factory option STi springs in a FSTi).
Also a suspension needs travel to work (unless you travel on smooth roads or on track).
On a different note...
I am also after one for the 182 as I was only pointed to the one below which I think is for the 172 only? Or are they common for both models?

When you say diff rebuild, what was wrong with it or did you just change the bearings?
The diff bearings should be reasonably priced (they were around £80 or so for my 205 GTi about 10 years ago).
Indeed about the Quaife, I had it in both my 205 GTis and it was one of the best modifications...
Great work returning it to standard-ish.
At what mileage did you replace the cable and how much did it set you back?
One thing that I didn't like in the Trophies/Cups I have test driven so far is the very heavy clutch, so it is good to know this has helped.
A stiffer axle will loost grip first.
With a thicker ARB you will have less roll and more grip on dry smooth tarmac but when the car lets go it will not be as progressive.
Lift-off oversteer will increase especially on the wet.
I don't have a Trophy but experience from a 205 GTi and Subarus on...
As someone in another forum once said "buying your old car back is like going out with your first girlfriend again after she has had a few children, put on kilos, and slept with half the village" or something along these lines.
I made this "mistake" with my first 205 GTi, sold it only to buy it...
PM sent. Also I forgot to ask, who refurbed the dampers and at what mileage? Are they still OK?
I've been reading that they don't all last lonf after a refurb and this is something that puts me off Trophies, I could buy a 182 FF and fit Bilsteins B8 with Cooksport/Eibach springs instead...
I test drove a 182 Cup today and I liked it although there was an occasional squeak , it sounded like it came from the steering when cornering hard, maybe sounded like a power steering kind of noise.
Is this a common problem?
I've also read in various adverts about the dephaser being done...
Ok I got it, means the PCD between non Cup and Cup is different too?
I test drove a Cup 200 this afternoon followed by a 182 Cup.
The 200 was a total disappointment. You felt detached when driving it, the steering was too light, the car is completely gutless below 5/5.5k rpm, even then it...
So are the "only" differences between a non cup 182 and a 182 cup the stiffened dampers (are springs the same?) and front hubs?
What exactly is the difference in the front hubs?
The reason I am asking is to find out what makes better financial sense, get a standard 182 and fit new Bilsteins...
