Ive always said they didnt care about the williams. Its the Metro they liked that Patrick Head designed that they have in the museum.
I reakon if they had a williams 2 they wouldnt even bother auctioning it, probably just skip it. I mean who would buy a copy of a williams? Bit like buying a...
When i asked a number of classic car owners about the problems of long term car storage i was told the same thing by most. The car is being sold as a museum piece, going to buy it as a road car is asking for trouble.
But im sure you and the williamsclio chat room have already phoned around...
Compared to the Clio Williams, Delta integrale and golf gti (original) i think modern cars all look rubbish.
But then i like angular cars. Will be interesting to see what Jason 'no personality how did i get a job on television' Plato thinks about the ST.
LOL @ him thinking he was better...
LOL @ how f4r owners never play with faster cars.
'yeah our rivals are the robin reliant, 1960's 1 litre mini and milk floats'
A Porshe boxster is a rival to the S2000. Price doesnt come into it. Car type and target market are the real factors involved. You dont hear S2000...
LOL, its the same class. You can split hairs, but a hatch back is a hatch back. Same size, same price.
I noticed an argument on cliosport about the meganee 225 v the clio 172. I drove a meganee 225 the other day and its serisously quicker than any clio sport ive been in.
The Focus ST...
Take your car to Hillpower nik and ask him to tell you which inlet and exhaust manifolds you have, just swappin them for the 'good' ones will probably get you up to the 180 bhp they are meant to put out.
My williams 0200 was a slow car until it went to nick at Hillpower. He blueprinted it to...
Because i know its a hard concept to understand, but not everyone thinks the same way as you or likes the same things. Some people like to collect cars, some like to drive them. Each to their own. Trouble for the drivers, is that collectors tend to have more money :P
Looks like the Trophy reign as 'king' of the modern hatches is going to be pretty short.
New Focus St looks like a bit of a beast.
And at 17.5k you cant really give the old arguement of it being aimed at a different market. Its only 2.5k more expensive, and the same sort of price as the...
Ive driven it (ive done 10% of the mileage on it) and its a bit rattly and smokey and the gearbox whined like mad. The oil was black when we checked it (obviously when the guy wasnt looking). I asked the guy what had been done to it, and the car is as it was when delivered from Renault. Same...
What hammer falls for and what the car goes for are different. If the hammer falls for 10k, you have VAT and stroage costs ontop of that. So price will be nearer 13k for a 10k hammer fall.
Guide price forauctions is notoriously held low to arrouse interest in the item.
How many people...
Personally i fell that if you thrash an engine you will wear it out more quickly, thats all there is too it. If your going to get rid of your car after 3 years that isnt a problem. Its common sense, the more an engine revs and the longer it revs for, the more it wears.
Hence the quicker it...
I dont know about trophys except for Nik's rolling road. But quick 172's put out the stated BHP. The 'slow' ones put out considerably less. Maybe 160 (some even less than that). These are at the fly figures.
The problem was traced by Nick Hill at Hillpower to be mainly due to the variation in...
Anyone who is worth their salt will know that one of the first things you ask when viewing a car is 'is it standard'. If i heard 'no i added some stupid chav spoiler and and these subtle mods' id personally walk away, because it indicates the person who owns this car HAS NO TASTE. And even if...
Youre talking about dealers. Im talking about the official way BMW asks customers to run in their cars. Dealers are cocks, they arent engineers. Read up, might suprise you.
You think this guy knows more about engines than BMW engineers? Read up on how BMW or Audi tell their customers to run in engines.
Plus what about the gearbox and brakes etc. If you run the engine hard, youll be running the gearbox and brakes hard. They have to be run in too.
A car isnt...
Wasnt the cure for this in the 172 to drill out the top mount hole so the top mount didnt catch on it. Cant see that doing anything good for the handling if that is the problem / cure.
Dont forget that when you claim on her insurance insist the car is put on a machine to test the chassis is still aligned. Dont let them fob you off with a new bonnet and bumper.
Contrary to what people believe modified cars are worth less than standard cars. Doesnt matter if its after market pedals and an airfreshner or a turbo conversion. It knocks the price down.
The clio has 4 star in the encap tests. But it wouldnt compare to a megane in a crash (5 stars and bigger). The megane would be alot safer. Its bigger and stronger. Any small car will just disintegrate on impact.
