It is my dampers for sale for £800, I got them back from Cornering Force yesterday. My refurb cost including blasting and painting was £495, so add on what the cost of non-refurbished dampers (£300 for a pair at least) and I think it is about right. BG's refurb cost is £450 without power...
Gauging interest really, I had my spare pair of Sachs back from Cornering Force today, but have again been thinking of a set of coilovers and keeping the current dampers in the shed if I sell the car.
They have been blasted and power coated, matched and unpinned, the total bill was just shy of...
I am thinking of changing mine, it is a stainless sports exhaust of unknown origin but the middle box is blowing a bit. From recommendations I have seen there is a Janspeed steel version that is very similar to original that is cheap and fairly quiet, the other option I am looking at is the...
I think Simon needs one to use to copy which could be a problem, I dont think everyone that refurbishes them send these back. I have also emailed Sachs in Germany to see if they can supply them, which is a bit of a long shot.
That is a shame, my spare Sachs did not come with these fitted, so I will need to use my original ones from the car. I spoke with Simon at Cornering Force today as he is sending my refurbished dampers out, he said if he could get one he would look at trying to get them re-made which may be a...
My spare Sachs are due back from Cornering Force in the coming week, has anybody renewed the rubber gaitor that goes inside the spring to protect the shaft?
I can use the ones already on the car but it would be good to fit new to the refurbished dampers really. Do Renault still supply them?
I...
I have a spare set also, I was going to use them on the car while I get mine refurbished and maybe as winter or track wheels. They will need a refurb and are not the best condition but I would sell them.
Mine did a similar thing yesterday, first time using it for 3 weeks, started fine, went to the bank, started OK, then went to the petrol station and just cranked over and over. It was getting to the point where I was going to push it away from the pump when I tried it again and it fired right...
My Sachs are currently with CF, so I am also interested. I have only driven the trophy on old dampers so am not sure on the benchmark, but I am hoping they are not too "crashy" over the bumps like they are now.
Welcome, the forum is a great resource for the Trophy, lots of info on what to look for etc. I didn't think I would keep mine, but after 18months I am planning a suspension refresh, wheel refurb and a new exhaust so will probably be a keeper now! They are addictive!
I want to keep mine fairly standard, so don't want to drill the turrets for new top mounts, but I think fittings Konis seem to be an improvement over the standard Sachs, if they are also cheaper than that is a bonus. All I have to do is wait for my front Sachs to be done.
I don't really want...
Good topic as my front Sachs are in for refurb, so I am planning a complete refresh. I am thinking Koni rears and sportlines with new front top mounts so the info on this thread is useful for me as well.
I almost went down the road of swapping everything out for coilovers, especially as the Spax kit was around the same price as the BG refurb but now there is a cheaper option the refurb route is best I think now. The car would lose it's value without the Sachs so bear this in mind when you work...
Where are you based? i do travel around a bit with work. I am not in any hurry for the parts, the car is fine as it but if I keep it long term I would like to make it mint (maybe one day it will be worth a fortune!).
I am in Bedford, I would be interested in picking this up or meeting somewhere. I can't think of anything else I need apart from the heater controls, but it looks like you could have sold these 10 times over!
Do you have the door cards still? I am also looking for a mint set of original rear seats, mine are slightly worn due to the previous owner having kids seats in the back.
How soon do you need the dampers? I have a spare set, my plan is to refurb these and swap with the set on my Trophy currently as my drivers side is a bit soft so needs doing. My plan would be to sell the dampers I take off the car. It would not be for a few weeks though.
I had to change mine, it is a tricky job to do. I think there are 4 screws in each side and 2 in centre that hold the spolier, the worst part is there are also 2 plastic trim clips that hold the spoiler on. You need to be really careful lifting these off as the plastic clips can become brittle...
I would possibly sell mine, 57k miles, belts done by previous owner. Shocks not been done, however I have spares ready to send for refurb that I would sell with the car, I would be looking at £4250 inc the spare Sachs. It was serviced this week by 519 Automotive so good to go.
Has anyone used Cooksport for a refurb? I have a spare set, although I live fairly close to BG I am thinking of sending to Cornering Force as the prices seem more realistic, however if Cooksport is an option it would be something to investigate.
Would it be an idea to try to get a signmaker or similar to replicate them from the originals? I guess there would not be a huge demand but it would be good for the future if stickers could be re-made.
If you are stripping the dash I would be interested in the heater control panel (assuming it is in good condition) as mine has areas of the grey which is scratched off. I would also be interesting in the Sachs assuming they have not already sold.
I would say it is worth more in parts than if...
I will try to get a pic of my new wheel, I bought it already done, it is very good, hence my original wheel is for sale. Perfect to get it done while still using the car.
I have my old Trophy steering wheel for sale, it has perfect grips, but has melted around the rim as they all do. When I was looking for a re-trim it seems the grips being good makes a difference on the quality of the end result. It has the cruise control buttons fitted.
I am looking for...
