If you get stuck for an MOT & can be bothered traveling my friend is an MOT tester & Clio 172 owner (cliosport member) in Wolverton, Mikton Keynes.
It is Kwik Fit, but Paul has been a tester for 5 years & MOT's all my cars as I tend to follow him about where ever he is working, including a...
If you want to do it better, turn the light around so the map reading light is on the passenger side like it should be. I modified mine to sit the correct way as even FF Clios have it the wrong way round, one of many things they didn't bother changing in the conversion to RHD.
The only way to remove the blanks is to remove the bumper as the are bolted on from behind.
PS mine are now body coloured which I prefer, everything else is still carbon as are my whole wing mirror bases.
Never over torque wheels bolts, common misconception to do this even in motorsport. But as metal & alloy expand at different rates you can get the bolts/studs stretching & then they come off get torqued up again etc & eventually they can snap, at least 2 of the Abarth 500 Trofeo race cars did...
As has been pointed out, the inside face should have been masked off, though I've had a few wheels refurbished in my time most seem to do this, but after melting the paint on the face before while only doing 5 laps of Silverstone, which resulted in wheel creep and then the bolts coming loose...
Grant that story about the guy buying the Prelude is best I've read in ages, really made me laugh.
Always like the Racing Puma, in fact Emnas dad when he worked for Tickford did some of the development work on it, but it never sold as well as Ford promised Tickford who set up an assembly plant...
The reply that I received from Arran.
"Hi Aaron,
many thanks for the email. At the moment I have a rather large waiting list as demand is far greater than supply. We cant churn them out quick enough as they take alot of work feel free too forward my details. My email is Arran_123@hotmail.com...
I've contacted Arran to inform him of interest on this site, and the options of either joining and doing a thread on here, or he can forward to me contact details and I'll post up.
That's my wheel. I used Arran off CS to get it retrimmed, cost £150. It's very high quality, feels & looks brilliant & is a genuine pleasure to use.
I bought a 2nd hand wheel, removed the grips gave them to a mate because fell apart, then sold my good condition wheel on.
The other guy on CS's...
The external looks are not much different, but the way it's constructed is very different.
The Prospeed above has a single entry to one back box which then splits into two tailpipes.
The BTB is more like the OEM system where it splits further downstream and goes into separaterback boxesoxes...
Hi Grant,
Didn't realise you were on here. Thanks for the well wishes, new arrival here end of June. Got all the Recaro gear, Akuna pram & Carry Cot, & car seat thing then Young Sport 9month to 12 year car seat. They all match & look great. Total suckers go to Autosport Pistonheads show & buy...
Thanks.
It is amazing how big cars have grown now, and its a bit of an optical allusion in the picture as the integrale is easily the widest car of them all, and the lowest, and in fact the heaviest at 1300kgs, to 1207kgs on the Civic and 1070kgs Clio iirc
Even though older cars are smaller...
Thanks for all the feedback. We do love our cars a lot, & even though we're expecting our first child, a little girl at end of June, a non-fun car i.e. Ive stop enjoying life people carrier (appologies to anyone who has to live with one) was never considered.
We also have a little Fiat...
Yes our Civic is a Premier model so MOMO steering wheel, red carpets, Recaro Trendlines, rear privacy glass, all important air-con but yes no optional foglights which are £300!
My friend has a 205 & a Ph2 Clio 172 & even he says the 205 is no where near as good as the Clio. I nearly bought 205...
Clio wing mirrors are same colour as the wheels as I got some rattle cans made up to correct paint code.
Favourite to drive is always the integrale, it's pure theatre every journey. But each car is different & even the Recaro Trendlines in the Clio & Civic feel slightly different though same...
As I was moving cars about & an opportunity to take a quick pic presented itself.
The Trophy next to my Lancia integrale EVO & our recently purchased EP3 Civic Type-R Premier Edition.
I did the balljoints on my friends 172 last wkend & even though his car has covered 96,000miles came off with a little effort.
On removal one was very tired, but other was not bad, the wishbone bushes had no play in them & car feels very tight now after fitting & the clunk he was getting before...
My steering wheel was retrimmed by a guy on CS, or at least a contact of a guy on CS who used to work for Aston Martin. It's beautiful leather, feels brilliant unlike the in his words terrible fake leather Renault use on their wheels.
It cost £150 & is worth every penny.
Unfortunetly I don't...
No more news yet, mine is still unique. The idea i believe with heroes/sheds is to release them in small batches. So at present Clio is on hold & not sure when it will be released.
There is no published noise levels for cars, only bikes.
But as per part of the MOT test it states a car should sound no louder than OEM & it's at the discrection of the tester if a car passes or fails. It will be probably using those regulations on your car, or upholding noise complaints from...
Looks great reminds me of my old one as it was same colour. Always wished I'd kept it & retired it as I bought it with about 50k on the clock & sold it at nearly 100k 4 years later & still felt nice and tight and apart from genuine Peugeot Sport Group N exhaust, GTi rear spoiler and lovely NLA...
No she used a picture of a Trophy for reference ;-)
Not sure when they will become available in Piston Heads shop but only 6 Hero's have been chosen with 2 sheds!
I had a lovely surprise today when I opened a gift to find a 'Trophy' t-shirt which is soon going to be part of Pistonheads new range of 'Hero's' & 'Sheds of the Week' for those who read PH will know all about.
As it was the sample the t-shirt is not the correct colour, the finished article...
In present weather conditions new/old makes no difference if you do not have propriety winter tyres fitted, they are all going to be poor.
I personally don't care which axle someone fits their new tyres to, but I take exception at people who try to belittle a statement with terms like bull**t &...
I've yet to see anyone post anything of quantifiable evidence to support their theory, it's all subjective whereas I have given objective information as provided by my friend who is a tyre development engineer for Continental at MIRA.
If you were really concerned about how well you car handled...
Although I don't drive with mine on unless reduced visibility negates it, I don't care if folk do. What really annoys me is folk driving in poor conditions with only side lights on, or even worse no lights at all. Further to this what I also consider to be a potential accident creating condition...
