EBC products have a bad rep, particularly among the track fraternity, and I think this is largely due to varying quality between different batches of their products. For example their Yellowstuff pad was found in a test to have a varying coefficient of friction between 0.33 and 0.45 (IIRC). I...
Well a modest weight reduction of a hundred kilos is equivalent to adding 20 bhp, so I am not sure about those numbers? :?
Granted, as you approach higher speeds, the ability to negate air resistance with more power will become more of a factor, but I would postulate, based on gut feel...
Oh yeah? :o I am all ears, what is the weight difference?
The easier reving would be the biggest benefit that I see, but the standard car picks up pretty well, so I don't 'feel the need' ...yet :D
@g40steve - Not sure that I agree, but we will see  in my experience the mods you dropped out have been quite effective, if in different cars. The jury is out on the CQ lock, and also the ARB. The others I definitely plan, though may not necessarily get around to
The engine...
Now I have my Trophy, which I chose because it would be a fast car on track without modification, I realise, that modifying cars is just too much fun to go without, so I will be modifying the Trophy :)
Just for a bit of fun, and maybe to make the fun last, and perhaps to help others...
I find the older I get, the less I care about what other people think about what car I am driving
And yes I am old too. Love my Trophy. 8)
Thanks very much fellers.
I have to admit, every day so far I am loving it a little bit more. Right now its getting a bit of TLC in the form of a new pair of Exaltos being fitted to the front (the previous owner had fitted a pair of Hero tyres in a moment of madness).
@Cue - what do I...
Aha - the Bristol chapter.
As I am in Yatton, and just bought my Trophy, where do you get your cars serviced? Any tips to a good indie or dealer welcome.
I believe in making the brakes as good as they need to be for a given application, but no better, as they add unsprung weight and reduce braking feel.
I have yet to discover whether the standard brakes on the Trophy are good eneough for the application
So I have finally taken the plunge and bought the lovely number 435. 8)
Many thanks to Steve (artdealer) for a great transaction, and I look forward to sharing more experiences with you as I get to know the car. Can't wait to get on some quiet roads.
As an aside, can anyone recommend a...
So the best way to reduce understeer with the Trophy is to increase front negative camber? Is there a camber kit commercially available (i guess yes) and where from and how much?
I am also interested in this :)
The traditional remedies for curing understeer would involve a combination of softening up front (tyres, dampers, ARBs) and stiffening up rear (tyres, dampers, ARBs). The Trophy has tyres and front dampers available for tweaking straight away, so I would try...
lol - thread torpedoed by the Pixies appreciation society :D
I am sure the feller has the answer he wants though; buy a Trophy - if you can afford it
I know. Although Pixie orthodoxy has it that Surfer Rosa and Doctor Doolittle are the pinnacle, I think Trompe le Monde is fab, love the cover of the Jesus&MC Head on title too. I like Frank Black's (Black Francis's) solo stuff too, but the Pixies were (are)extraordinary.
Saw him live on...
I am sort of wrestling with the same question, but I think my mind is made up. I want a Trophy
And you have all pretty much confirmed it too. How can I not take advice from a man who has Trompe le Monde as his avatar.
Hello all,
just joined up, so I thought it would be polite to say hello. Great looking site, of some considerable interest as I am looking at getting a Trophy in the next month or so.
Cheers.
