You should be able to use the springs from the Sachs with the OE Cup shocks so no need to buy extra springs. If you plan to keep the sachs dampers off for a while, then maybe get coilovers if you got your heart set on it. Personally I wouldn't as I'd want to get the Sachs back on the car as...
I have these in mine and recommend you get a set too. Very bright and excellent spread of light and alot brighter than oem.

IMO VX/Elise aren't great everyday use cars. I would imagine getting in and out of them would be a bit of bind, especially with the roof on a cold wet day. Weekend car yes, everyday, not so sure. I've also recently been thinking about going back to RWD, not sure of your budget, and have been...
I was in a Renault showroom recently and they had the Cup version in metallic silver. It actually looks a lot better in the flesh. Came with the Recaro seats and I have to say those are the best seats I sat in, comfortable and very supportive and the driving position was spot on. I like it...
I've had the RS192 on my car for over a year now. Whilst I haven't experienced the issue of hesitation under 3k rpm, I do get a metalic "tinkling" sound at high rpm ie, when booting it. I've ignored it thus far, but took my car in for an MOT recently and failed on very high CO and HC...
If I remember correctly if those AST coilovers come from a non Cup'd 182, they may not fit the Trophy as the bolt spacing on the hubs will be different.
If those are the criteria, consider these too (Megane sized) in order to fun then poshness
BMW M130i
VW Golf GTI
Audi S3 (old version)
Seat Leon Cupra
Mazda MP3
I could list more but that would just confuse you even more!
Yeah the vanos is an expensive fix, £1200 if I remember correctly. Not all cars suffered this problem, however, it'll wise to pick a car that's already had the work done, check the invoices/service history. You'll hear a ticking/rattling sound from the front of the engine if it needs doing...
I wouldn't discount BMWs just because they have 50k and may be little older. These cars are way better built and can easily do big mileage and still look mint. If I had £15k to spend on either a 1 year old R26 with 15k miles or a 3 year old 330i Sport with 40-50k miles, I'd take the BMW any...
I had a BMW (E46) 325i Sport for the best part of 3 trouble free years before the Trophy. I had to get rid of it out of necessity, needed something smaller, otherwise I'd still have it. RWD is so much better that FWD IMO and you can definitely feel it's way better engineered that anything...
I thought the current standing was that Audi have replaced BMW as c0ck drivers! I'm of the opinion that if the car is good then get it and not worry about what everyone else thinks. The BMW M3 is fantastic car.
I fitted the 2 rear boxes first and tightened the clamp around the join between the 2 boxes, but not too much, just enough so that it will also allow me to make adjustments by had to the lined the exhaust tips with the cutouts. Also loosen the bolts holding the exhaust mounts to help with the...
I had exactly the same problem last year with the N/S front. I had it replaced by Renault and paid £350 for a new one as courtesy of Renault UK as it was out of warrenty. In hindsight, should have got both refurbed though I'd have to buy a pair of 182 Cup dampers on top of the refurb. My car...
I second that, very cheap and also for me 21 was a long time ago. I have PE2 currently but had Avon ZZ3 previously, also I found to be quite good and cheaper than PE2s.
What works on an Elise won't necessarily work for the Clio. The Elise is mid engine with independent double wishbone all round and has near 50/50 weight distribution. The Clio has torsion beam rear suspension and Macpherson front suspension with about 65% of the weight over the front axle...
..when they clearly are not! (apart from one)

Might give some of the ads a call for a laugh and put them on the spot.
At the end of the day, you're not going to notice a huge difference if any between the two performance wise. Decision will be down to price and the sound which will be a personal preference. The KTR system has one silencer for the rear pipes so may be a little louder.
I tend to find its mainly Vauxhall Zafira's (old shape) are the worst drivers. The drive like manics, they're always doing 90mph everywhere, undertake other road users, tail gate you and when they get in front slow down again.
But my main gripe are drivers who deliberately speed up when you're...
The standard system isn't particularly restrictive so there won't be any gains other than more noise. Unless your system is rotting through, keep your standard system and start saving the pennies for a new system. You may find a few going 2nd hand.
I had the exhaust metallic rattle you speak of, mine turned out to be the join between the exhaust and the cat. Judging by your image, there is a lot of soot around the bottom of the join between the cat and the manifold which means there's the leak causing the rattle.
Sorry it was a while ago when I read it somewhere. When I say a while ago, before the Trophy when I had a 172 in 2001! May be my memory is failing me in my old age!
