Just got an email from Colin at West Renault Cambridge (taken over from Tom) after explaining my predicament and he says that he has just called Renault today (presumably in France) and that the new parts are coming in from their supplier on the 27 July and I will get my dampers in August...
Another Update from Sachs:
To produce new parts for the clio Trophy, we first need an order from Renault because these dampers are exclusively manufacturing for Renault.
If they have sold you Twingo R1 dampers, that could mean that they have decided to offer this solution for the spare parts...
UPDATE:
Just got off the phone with Renault UK and told them that Sachs are no longer producing these dampers. He said that this should not be the case as under European Law, manufacturers have to provide car parts for up to 8 years, ie the Sachs need to keep producing spares until September...
This is the reply I got with regards to them doing the refurb:
All our service partners worldwide listed in our Website or catalogues are able to service the front dampers (No service is possible on the rear dampers).
All our service partners worldwide listed in our Website or catalogues...
Well I emailed Sachs at technical-service.zre@zf.com to find out whether they are still producing the dampers and here's the reply:
We have produced only one batch of dampers by the production of the Trophy car in 2005.
So I hope Renault has still dampers available.
Maybe you should contact...
Regardlesss of any good intentions, it has outstanding finance and therefore I'd avoid it like the plague to be honest. The attitude displayed here has my alarm bells ringning as to the trustworthyness of the seller and definitely not doing his "boss" any favours!
I've ordered a pair of brand new items for £940 though there are supply issues, I've been waiting 2 months now and still no word from Renault UK as to when they will recieve a batch from Sachs.
Is it the driver side that is unavailable? It's been nearly 2 months and I'm still waiting for the driver side damper. I have the correct near side and a almost identical looking Twingo R1 rally car damper for the offside. Renault UK have been calling me twice a week since I registered a...
You are of course right, personally I wouldn't do it as I don't track my car (yet!). As for bolting then on to a Clio, the unit looks exactly identical and has the exact same dimensions from what I can tell with a tape measure right down to the bolt spacing and the thread at the top of the rod...
Any fully syth 5w/40 oil that meets ACEA A3/A4, be it Ester/PAO or hydrocracked oil. I've used Halfords fully syth 5/40, shell helix, mobil 1, Elf oils and the car is fit as a fiddle. I don't see the point in spending good money on expensive ester/pao syth oils, you won't notice any...
Yes that price is per damper according to the Renault-sport site. However, you could contact Tom at West Renault to see if he can get a quote for you, the part numbers are 77 111 67 414 and 77 111 67 413. Be interesting to see if someone does fit them to the Trophy, ideal for someone who...
From what I can see and on images of other pairs of dampers, there are no differences in cup angles, so in theory you could swap between left and right. The only difference would be perhaps the damping rate maybe. The MK2 Twingo chassis is the same as the MK2 Clios.
They were £471.56 each inc. VAT from

I initially contacted Tom via PM on Cliosport.net.
Well the damper is definitely firmer, just did a very unscientific test with a bathroom scale to see how much weight was required before the rods moved. The scales registered around 140-150lbs of me pushing down the standard damper on the scale and it took 150-160lbs Twingo R1 item. Also it...
Here's something you might find very interesting and something I found out purely by accident.
I recently ordered a pair of brand new dampers from Tom at Wests Renault. I received them yesterday, however, one of the dampers was slightly different. Tops of damper were slightly different and it...
I'm in the process of getting brand new replacements for the fronts, Tom at Wests Renault (Cambridge) has quoted me £471.56 each. I also ordered new top mounts and spacers bringing the total to £1037 with free postage (due to the size of the order). I'll be fitting them myself when they...
Well, checked my dampers today and it looks like the driver side front damper has started to leak oil. Could anyone remember who it was that was able to source or were selling brand new dampers?
I think in general remaps just runs the engine a little richer than normal. When I had the Unichip on the car, mpg was slightly lower, but there was slightly more mid range grunt and my exhaust tips were definitely more covered with soot. I just run it completely standard now and to be honest...
Did you bleed brake the fluid? If so, it sounds like there is air in the system. When you say you pump the pedal till it goes hard, is the engine running as I would say that is what you usually get with the engine off. I've changed disks and pads all round on my Trophy a few years ago and I...
The pipe joining the centre section to the CAT is 2" as this is the diameter of pipe on the CAT. The rest of the system is 2.5". I was one of the first to have this system fitted on my Trophy back in 2008. Still on the Trophy and I have had no issues with it. Don't expect any noticeable...
Fear not, instead of going to Renault, who will charge you £50-£60 for a new one, there is a company that can create you a spare/replacement one £13 delivered. You need the FER key number which can be found in your log book. I'd lost mine recently and the Renault garage suggested I contact...
I sometimes got this too. So I changed the way I start the car. I turn the key to when all the lights are swiched on on the dash, wait a few seconds, ie put my seat belt on, then start the car. I guess this pause "primes" car for starting, you can hear things buzzing and huming (possibly the...
