It could have needed a clutch due to any number of factors ie oil contamination, vibration etc. ive seen clutches changed at less than 20k on clio's

Diagnostic scanner IS the way forward it may not have a 'light' on but that does not mean a sensor has not got a fault. BTW i think your not driving it hard enough may be its coked up :eek: ive had mine from new and never seen 50mpg have you thought about a diesel.;):p

Check the rear heat shields above the boxes as these can break and vibrate,also the centre box is known to fall apart inside and vibrate.This is assuming its a standard exhaust.

Im interested to see what kind of further discount is available,I have 5 of the originals here including two on the car and 4 are shot so any upgrade with a standard look is interesting. That's better than BOGOF at retail prices.
