The gentleman is not that bright and has little experience of driving cars, let alone reviewing them. His driving inputs are a complete give away to begin with. Only a clumsy oaf steers in the way his does. White van driver/taxi style with one hand. He has zero mechanical sympathy. Bouncing...
Good stuff Jonc. Thanks for posting the update and pictures. If the R1 dampers are cheaper than standard ones, as well as coming with a helpful redesign to minimise the possibility of scoring, it would seem they are the future. As they are a rally component the 'scraper' would have been a must...
I changed from an S1 Rallye myself. Which I was lucky enough to be able to keep. Now at 70k from new, people still offer me cash for it. Although it could do with some work in my opinion, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
I found the change great. Lot's of things the same, but a lot of modern...
It's a huge shame, yet it's odd they have ceased production. That size was OEM on all 182's, not just the Trophy. The 182 moved to a 16" wheel, so there should be plenty of demand. I expect the size fits a few other cars too.
If you take a look at the 2118 thread you'll see I used an online...
I expect you've read the thread 2118's then. Will-i-ams went to 15's to keep using the PE2. Would you go with the 195/50 or 205/50 size though? 205 keeps everything pretty spot on concerning rolling circumference etc but they are as expensive as a 205/45 R16 PE2.
Thanks for the link. Having read the reviews of the Conti SC2 and the Mich PS3, a lot of people seemed to have switched from the Conti SC2 to the PS3 and all claimed the PS3 far superior.
Unsurprisingly the person that swapped from PE2 to PS3 was pretty negative....
Got it, knew it was a Conti Sport Contact of some sort. Do you know if there is a huge difference between SC2 and SC3? Perhaps in the same way there is between PE2 and PS3...
Was thinking about them myself. They seem like a good alternate option if PS3 so poor. The Contact 2's are used as OEM on the 197 iirc.
I don't think they're too expensive either.
Great critique MaKSiNG. Hopefully this will save someone without as sharp an eye as you from buying a lemon.
It's sounds like way too much of a risk to take unless the asking price is lowered to near scrap value. Sadly the dealer is probably of the opinion that 'there is another mug born every...
Really good to hear the feedback. It seems you are a big convert to the 15" wheel and 195/50 R15 Michelin Pilot Exalto 2 combination. The interesting part would be how much is the good handling you report down to the PE2 on a 15" vs PS3 on a 16", or just the rubber.
I wonder how many others...
Fair enough. I thought getting back to PE2's was partly the motivation. A bit of both I expect.
I expect that has a lot to do with it. Perhaps a wider choice of track day tyre in those dimensions too.
Completely agree with you. My concern about the Yokohama's is that I heard there is a...
Any reason why you went for the 195 over the 205 as both are available in XXX/50 R15?
I presume the T's standard Turini is 16"x7 so the 7" width would cope with the 205 without a problem and keep the OEM tyre footprint. As you say, it would be another interesting test.
I've read that 172...
Apologies if I wasn't clear Cue. I'm talking about rolling circumference. The distance it takes for one complete rotation of the wheel to be completed. Related to rolling radius, the distance from the middle of the wheel to the ground.
No, but I completely agree, the aspect ratio of the...
Positive initial feedback then, although, as you say it could be a lot about changing from the no name rubbish that were on the Turini's to the PE2's on the 2118's.
If I recall others generally felt that the PE2 turn in was far sharper than PS3. Theoretically you could be noticing a positive...
Cool. Although they look a tiny bit small in the arches and aren't as aesthetically pleasing as the standard Turini's in my view.
Yet the fact they are on PE2's over PS3's and are cheaper, and many say that 1*2's on 15" wheels are great, making little overall difference to the handling...
My interpretation is that the glass/plastic lenses of the front fog lights have 'crazed', 'fatigued' whatever one wishes to call it. Heat and cold cycles can do it.
If the lenses are made of glass perhaps they have been attacked by chemical or road pollutants causing 'blooming' or that milky...

Interesting. Thanks for the detail. Nice choice on the wheels, I presume you're going to keep them silver/chrome or go with the colour of the original Speedline's. Even lower un sprung weight is a great benefit. As are cheaper tyre's, that are a 'better' option.
I wonder how the 3mm...
Ah, nightmare. One of the worst places for a bump. I guess it will all be down to whether the sill is bent.
I had a car that 'only' received a large parking dent (from a bus doing a three point turn) on the rear quarter. Nothing wrong with the sill or door pillar, yet to get it repaired...
Hi is1, what wheels have you decided to buy in 15"? And do you lose any width of wheel with a 15"?
Also, as you are running 15"s is the sidewall of the PE2 not a 'higher profile' in order to maintain rolling radius, accurate speedo and mileage?
If the sidewalls of the PE2 are a higher profile...
Bearne, when you contacted Michelin, which contact channel did you use? Do you recall who you spoke to?
Ideally I'd like to keep this at the minimal level of investigation as possible; getting to a person that can give an answer quickly. I really don't want to deal with flunkies, marketing guff...
Does anyone have any contacts at Michelin? Preferably in product development, manufacturing or supply chain. Customer services or marketing better avoided.
Looking at Michelin's current UK range the Pilot Exalto PE2 (for the Sports and Roadster segment so they say) is still available in...

Just the wiper stalk, and interior mats if they count. They are the ones from Autostyle in black piped in silver/grey with Trophy in the correct font and the number. I think actually better than original Renault. No plans to change anything else. Still on OEM PE2's as well.
Oh, and far more...
Given the little sticker below Clio on the boot and that there is a sticker in the Trophy font on the leading edge of the bonnet, it could be a car that was owned by someone from the forum. Were those stickers available here? Or elsewhere too?
Shrewd move on replacing the seats, but in doing...
Hmm, seems like the jury is out then. Having read Cue's post again, it would be a pity if the PS3 W rated tyre is both heavier and has a similar flabby sidewall as the V. Sounds like there is no real benefit to a W tyre.
Spitfire, although you have noticed no handling issues do you think the...
With a strengthened side wall could that not negate the 'squishy' issues people have been experiencing with the PS3's (presumably people are mostly using the V rated PS3)?
Seems users are over inflating PS3's to get a better turn in and feel through the steering wheel. Others were commenting...
Don't shout too loud, they'll be a red coloured barmy army swarming around you in an instant... ; )
I'd get back to the pool and another bottle of Ormes.
I'm sure he's delighted. It's top stuff. Enjoy the case of Ch Ormes de Pez 2000 he gives you in exchange.
Surely the 'fega is worth that at least; factor in the fuel costs to the UK and back and that you had to go to Halfrauds. ; )
