I asked this question a month or two back as I want to downsize to 15s to be able to use PE2s.
Not many responses. The only real reply was Sir_Dave to the effect that the car actually drove better on 15s. This seems to be the prevailing view on Cliosport too but of course handling and feel are...
It would depend on their offset. If they are 7 x 15 but the offset is, for example, ET43 or ET45 (as opposed to ET36 for valver wheels), then it won't make much of a difference in terms of how much they stick out as they would be the same width and similar offset to factory Turinis. Would...
Required offset would depend on the width of the wheel. If it was a 7 x 15, then I suppose you'd look for ET45 per standard or you may prefer ET43 for a couple of mm "wider look".
If you are looking at 6 x 15, then offset would need to be closer to ET35 to keep the outer part of the wheel...
Interesting responses. I had heard that the Clios drive better on 15s.
Thanks for the responses, I might have a look into this. Camskill have 195 50 15 V PE2s at just over £50 each!
I am one of the people that mourn the loss of Pilot Exalto 2s. I know they do them in 195 50 15 V (at half the bloody price of 16s!) so wondered whether it might be an idea to run 15" wheels and have the benefit of cheaper (better?) tyres?
Could there be other advantages such as lower weight...
Doesn't Paul Drake at Gould Engineering (I think) do them if it is a straightforward service that is required? I recall seeing something in the region of £100 per side earlier in this thread.
I reckon there are loads of other motorsport companies that could do this service, it's just that...
Is it something to do with 7th greatest drivers' car of all time, greatest hot hatch, race-derived suspension etc?
It is a wonderful, wonderful car (I came to it from greatest drivers' car no. 10 - an Evo VI Tommi!) and probably love it more but you should be realistic as to how much better it...
Once again, as per previous posts, only you can answer this. Go and look at examples of each, speak to the owners and decide for yourself. If it is a daily carrying passengers (i.e. actually used as a passenger car) then the Civic might be a better choice on the basis that they are apparently...
It's whichever comes first though is it not - 3 years or 60,000 miles so the 3-year limit is passed irrespective of mileage.
It would be a hell of a result if you are successful. Good luck with it.
To be honest, there have been quite a few on eBay in the last couple of years which have looked ropey, I remember seeing one with black wheels and colour coded mirrors. I personally don't like special editions to be modified either.
I am not sure they will ever be an "investment" (in the sense...
For what's available in our size, I'd say PS3. I doubt there is another that is as good an all-rounder as well as wearing quite well. In this case, I do think you get what you pay for.
I have tried Uniroyal Rainsport 2s for a while but they didn't really deliver the weighty steering feel the...
First, good luck with the sale although I would advise holding onto it if you can.
To get anything like the price you wish to sell it for, I think you would need to return it to as near standard as reasonably possible.
I think the market for these cars has split into two at the moment...
I'm asking this question because I noticed that the jacking points along the sill are quite weak and one folded back slightly.
I don't want it to happen again so are there any other points where the car can be jacked up to reduce the risk of bending the "rail" that runs beneath the sills?
Thanks.
The last service entry is from Halfords Auto Centres. Good luck.
On the seats point, that is probably how this trader received the car and has taken the description from another source.
The previous owner (poss. PX'd) may have taken them out to get another £6/700 odd for their part ex. Nice idea!
I must say, this thought has occurred to me too. I know that the Hankook EVOs get good reviews by the Clio community and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that they are only available in 205 45 16 as a W rated tyre and wondered whether that was partly why they seemed to work well on the...
I bought mine mid-last year for nearly double that, although mileage was in early teens and it was almost as new.
That was intentional on my part as I wasn't able to get one when they were new and wanted one that hadn't been messed with.
My take on it is I will be keeping it for a very long time...
Elliott, I agree with the point about slight hesitancy compared to the PE2s. However, I think that is the trade off (i.e. softer sidewall) for improved wet weather performance.
Personally, I would avoid Rainsport 2s. I did a back to back test with Rainsports against PE2s on the front of mine...
I have now had mine on around 2.5 - 3,000 miles now. Set them to about 34psi all round and on standard suspension, it drives like it always did on PE2s.
I don't think he is doing that any more. Disappeared off the scene by all accounts.
On a related but separate issue, I find it incredible that this community of owners has not been able to find another expert who can rebuild these dampers at a lesser cost. I am sure there are people who can do...
Splitter and the head unit don't look promising (nor mats but that's really picky).
I'd check where the cambelt was done and whether you are happy with the answer.
Not sure of the condition of the wheels.
Has it got the little black tabs on the front bumper air vents (I think it has, if not, a...
Would be useful to know which number it is if someone calls up. May be an RIP on the Owners Register.
I am sure I saw another breaking earlier in the week.
They are going the way of the Williams (i.e. there won't be much left worth buying at this rate)!
Firstly, I think they mean the auxiliary belt which is to be changed at 36,000 miles. It should be changed at the same time as the cambelt if done on the 5-year interval so if the cambelt has been done, you may want to check that it has not already been done.
Secondly, why on earth are you...
I know it's only banter but I think we may have taken that thread a little too seriously. After all, the first line states:
"Probably won't be for about a year or so but I'll probably looking to get a Trophy at some point."
Yeah, OK.
