Did it a lot this morning (4 degrees).
Doesn't do it on full lock in my driveway where it is flat. Exiting my driveway, full lock, sloping down onto flat road, does it quite hard when cold.
I figured the carbon one from k-tech was almost the same price as the renault one so I went for that.
Big mistake, the Matt carbon is now completely discolored and looks shit. I will need to remove it, sand it and put some clear coat on it. Don't feel I should have to do this after only a couple...
I have sorted the squeaky hinge with some oil.
I phoned sgs and they want me to send mine back. Unfortunately I threw away my old ones and the packaging as I fitted the new ones. So not sure if I will bother.
Annoying though as it was not that cheap to have a product that doesn't work.
I bought mine from SGS.
SKU - GSC2549 listed Renault Clio Trophy Tailgate / Boot Gas Strut.
So when i open the boot, the door flies open with enough force that the hinges groan in protest, it then stops opening at about 80%.
If i push the door up the final 20% the struts do hold it up but it...
I just replaced my boot struts.
Hinge now creaks and and it doesn't work properly.
First bit of opening is likely to twat you in the nads and then it isn't powerful enough to push the last bit.
Thinking of sending them back. Can anyone tell me which way up they should be mounted, maybe I have...
Love the thread.
You must be inspiring a lot of people.
I was wondering if you could put together a list of parts and where you bought etc. Maybe start a new thread.
Ok.
IMO the Goodyear Eagle F1 is shite.
Much lighter steering with no feel, rubbish turn in. Grip levels are probably higher than old pe2's but when you reach the limit the car almost seems to skip into understeer.
My advice, stay away from these tyres.
If you have to make a claim get a bunch of examples for sale immediately. (Assuming your car depreciates). These will be your bartering tool.
There was a post a while back where a guy was given something like £2500 for a write off with the insurance company refusing to admit that the Trophy was...
So, finally got a new set of eagle f1 Asymmetric fitted.
Only 20 wet miles so far so no comments on grip.
First impressions are that the ride is a tiny bit firmer at really slow speed, hopefully this means stiffer side walls. (Does not compromise the ride when moving).
I'm pretty sure the...
Ok.
Camskill has Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (y rated) or Eagle F1 GSD3 (w rated), both at £80 per tyre.
I assume from the evo article that the asymmetric 2 is the correct one.
If I have any sense I will get the Goodyear. Not sure if I have any sense because I am still thinking of getting the AD08's...
Has anybody tried Goodyear Eagle f1's on the Trophy. After a lot of searching I can find very little information.
Also there seem to be 2 different types. Asymmetric 2 and ds3, anyone know the difference.
Really hard to find any details on them.
Probably going to go with AD08r's but my local...
Let us know how you get on.
I will probably switch my old pe2's front to back again as I hate throwing away legal tyres.
I'm pretty sure the rubber has got to that age where there is just no grip left though and if it doesn't improve then I will need to replace them.
So I've found some AD08r's the correct size. £112 per corner.
Hankook v12's at about £70 per corner or ps3's at about £105 per corner. Feel is more important to me than outright grip so I think I am going to skip the ps3's.
Hankooks sound great for the money but obviously aren't a patch on the...
Why wouldn't you want to run them on 16's.
I need new road tyres and the AD08's are at the top of the list so far.
I have been on the road with r888's before and the ride was considerably firmer, will this be the same as AD08's.
Also sounds like AD08's are great wet or dry but not cold, anyone...
As far as I am aware.
A Cat d write off is not financially viable.
A cat c write off is because it is unsafe.
Not sure which yours is but not many people would touch a cat c, I'm not sure on the legality of putting it back on the road either.
I was approached by a lotus specialist on a forum and he came and looked at the car with me. He showed me that there was no chassis damage and then gave me a quote to do the work.
The insurance company gave me 2 offers
1 full payout for the car.
2 repair costs and keep the car.
Full payment...
I just had this with my Elise.
I complained enough that they eventually agreed with my valuation (I explained they were not going to have to pay that amount), and with my valuation the car was then financially viable to repair so no cat d.
I got the car back + agreed repair costs paid in cash. I...
Anyone using AD08's as their every day tyre. How do they cope with cold and wet compared to the PE2's.
My PE2's are getting on a bit now, they still have a fair bit of tread left but the rubber feels like it has gone off a bit.
The car feels really loose compared to last winter. Maybe just a...
2 kids and the school run, not a problem.
Been my everyday car for quite a few years now and my 2 girls never complain (can't say the same for the wife).
Pretty sure that ridiculous price is the one quoted to me by Renault.
Went for a carbon ktec one instead. Big mistake, all the clear coat is coming off and it looks terrible. Less than two years old.
If I remember rightly only cheap option was an Octavia one. Might want to check that first though.
Marrow, how much is that leg shortening operation.
So it sounds like the only way is to replace the steering wheel, which means no airbag.
Would be nice to leave the car fairly standard.
Has anyone figured out a way to bring the standard steering wheel closer to them.
I'm thinking of trying to get a spacer made up to go bring the wheel closer to the driver. Is there anyone who has had there wheel off who would know if this is possible.
Cheers
P.S I apologize if I don't ever...
