Very annoying situation - I too have had the same thing. One point gave way a few months back and so I placed a larger washer over it. Since then another point has gone too. Luckily mine doesn't sound as if it was anywhere near as loud or as bad as yours.. Where abouts did yours give way?
I would imagine so.. Although I would picture it being quite a tight fit. Ben said that the bend made from the airbox to the inlet is very lossy. Overcoming that alone should make a significant diference apparently.
I too experienced all of this 2 weeks ago. Fascinating chatting to ben and hearing about his various driving and business experiences. His track Clio is a serious looking piece of kit, equally, the fiesta zetec s is a wolf in sheep's clothing!
I see a great deal of sense in that hoolio, at least that way I would avoid the risks associated with doing the more tricky jobs myself. My mate has bought a polisher - not sure if it's rotary or dual action. We can get to grips with it on another car and then ultimately transfer the skills to...
Interesting discussions here, thanks for all of the contributions :D
I'm still undecided as to whether or not to head away from the PG route. Does anyone know if I would have to have the polymer coating stripped off before effectively treating the car to polishes etc?
Felix, I looked at the...
.. I have in the past removed mine, cleaned them inside and out and then used Autoglym SRP and sealant on them.. Last year I did it to one as I bought a replacement and that wheel is so much easier to clean than the others which have had Permaguard treatment..
Liar  :P - thanks for the contribution J..!!! :P
Cheers for opinions so far guys.
Interested to know how long it takes to become proficient with a rotary polisher and also with clay? - Quite frightened of clay due to the ease of wrecking paintwork?!
Also, thoughts on the necessity...
My girlfriend is about to purchase a new car, well, used but around the age of my Trophy. I have told her that she has to start looking after this one and it has surfaced the discussion regarding car care. My car was Permaguarded by duffer987 and for the last 2 and a bit years under my wing, I...
I'm off to Angelworks on Monday for a service and am after some brake decent fluid. In my usual way I've left decision making far too late and can't get hold of any via mail order so have been phoning around places nearby and all I can find thus far is Ferodo and carlube or halfords own brand. I...
If it makes you feel any better, on 2 occasions across 2 yes I've seen the light but switching the engine off and back on again after a short wait has cleared it both times. When I took it to Reno they didn't find anything, even after taking it for a test drive - helpful....
Cool! I'd love to have a splitty, especially with the aforementioned porsche lump. I could happily cruise down to the coast with the bike and some surf boards. Shack up in it overnight by the beach - fabulous! What are your trip plans?
Whatever the black strip is, it's most certainly not a standard feature of the Trophy - have never seen it before..
Looks quite keenly priced for the mileage. I like the line about possibly the best example around - clearly they haven't seen some of the low mileage minters on this site! :lol...
Out come the political flags hehe!
In honesty, I don't feel overwhelmed by the boys in blue but one thing is for sure, I certainly don't have time for the current jokers. I say Boris for Prime Minister!! :D
That aside - J - The only reason the bankers and financiers were able to do...
This morning, for the first time this year, my legs propelled me on my moutain bike to work and boy did it feel good - especially after reading this..
broken promises and Labour - they go hand in hand yet they were voted back in... *sigh*
As per hoolio's comments- take your time and line it up carefully before drilling. I'm pretty happy with mine, although it doesn't quite meet the wheel arch on either side - there's probably a 10mm gap but it is possibly mounted slightly further forward than the OE item.
Cheers for the pointers. TBH I wasn't bothered by the fact that it could possibly be part glass fibre.. The fact that it was better value than the OE item and looks more attractive was good enough for me!
^^^ When I looked at mine, I got the impression that it was glass fibre underneath and carbon layered on top because on the underside there was no evidence of any weave; it looked more like the random laid fibres that form glass fibre.. Is this simply what unfinished c/f looks like?! :?
Don't bother with a standard one - take a look at k-tek's carbon splitter - it's cheaper and it looks better too. Just be prepared that you may have to be patient with postage.. #-o
click me for splitter
Car looks smart - hope you're enjoying it. :)
Wish I could say the same for mine... They squeal like, well, very squeally brakes... I filed them down but left the anti squeal shims in which I understand could be my mistake. Hey ho, I can put up with it!
Whatever you do, don't make my mistake and overtighten the caliper bolts - I managed to...
Where did you get that fact from JTB? - I have just had a quick search but can't find it via google.. I'm keen to drum up some support for the petition.. :)
^^ How long has it taken you to work that one out J!! :P
Must admit that it had rather aggrevated me too (sorry Nik!).. Makes browsing on the iPhone even more fiddly!
Interesting. After I made the comment, I took another look just to reassure myself that I didn't like it  Anyway, the side profile isn't so bad as the view from directly in front. It may well grow on me when I see it in the flesh- I wasn't especially impressed by the 197 when it first...
Yup I can confirm that I had to wait around the same length of time for my splitter. It would help if they put a notice on the product details when you're buying them so that you know they're awaiting a shipment before you part with the money. I received an email after I had placed my order...
