5 GT Turbo then a 172 and onto the Trophy, and I've also have had regular access to a Williams for the past three years. The Trophy is my genuinely my favorite by some margin, would love another 5, but I don't have the time or the patience to keep one in top shape.
The Trophy has been a great...
Nevermind, thanks for the tip though, it's the thought that counts!
No, unfortunately not, had a look at their website, and it looks more orientated to trade rather than private sales, or am I not getting something?
Well after convincing myself not to take a gamble and get a set of Yoko Parada's, I'm now on the hunt for 4 new Michelin PE2's...only problem is Mytres want £322 and Blackcircles £320.92, so roughly £80 a tyre before fitting!
Anyone got any suggestions for where I can get my PE2's...
It's all about boiling points - From what I have worked out, DOT 3 was superseded by DOT 4 which brought with it higher boiling points, DOT 4 was then superseded by DOT 5.1 for the same reason, however DOT 5.1 will absorb water more easily than DOT 4, which is one of the reasons why high boiling...
I think I have boiled my fluid at previous trackdays, so I am going to get my fluid changed come service time. Was going to go for some high boiling point DOT 4 fluid though rather than DOT 5.1, Motul RBF 600 seems to be one of the best fluids with a high boiling point (312 degrees) but does not...
DC2 is a great choice of car Steve, I'm sure you'll be very happy together! I've got a couple of mates who are on www.itr-dc2.com although one has sold up recently, and the other's is off the road with a knackered clutch!
It's amazing how many interesting cars could be bought for Trophy money (E36 M3, Evo 6, Impreza P1), being a petrol head makes life so confusing when purchasing time comes, balancing the character and appeal of older cars with the reliability and performance of modern cars...Pistonheads has made...
 Shite the track looks drenched! Good on you for having the balls to get out on track during the downpours yesterday, Paddock Hill is a big enough challenge in the dry, let alone with a river running down it!
 Did not think this would actually happen, as you always seem to be able to talk yourself round into keeping it!
Best of luck with the sale, and with the flat purchase! :D
Hey Olly, good update fella, hopefully your R26 will return better mpg when everything is nicely run in.
Hope to catch up with you on track at sometime in the future, then we can recreate the battle we had at Brands last August! :D
Excellent update George, will be interesting to hear your reports once you are back using synthetic oil and a more aggressive timing map - do you know how long it will be until you go back to Angelworks to get this done?
I do admire your bravery with pad choice, going for a different compound...
Sounds alright to me, different cars, but like minded people! :D Difficult to say how changing the site that greatly would affect what is currently quite a tight network of peeps though, perhaps sister sites with strong links to each other....
I often go driving driving in the same area! You ever done the Ranmore Common road between the A25 & A246 towards Guildford? Stunning road! If you ever want to meet up for a Sunday drive, just give me a shout! :)
Right, I hope I don't get too much abuse for posting this...
Cruising down a private road at a steady 120mph, then nailing the throttle for a long downhill section I saw an indicated 141/2mph! I know in reality that this was probably no more than the 139mph that Renault claim for the Trophy...
Excellent news! :D Looks like I could be going for Parada's next as well then, keep us informed of your views on them, especially when you get a chance to run them in the wet! Guess they still need a few more miles to fully bed in as well...
I've had Yoko's on all my cars in the past, and...
What - starts smoking through a water pipe!?!
Your problem does sound a bit bizarre, I just get in, turn on the ignition and hit the trip computer reset button and then I get a read out of the oil level...the needles do not move from the bottom of the dials!?! :?
Re: Remove acoustic valve
Should find all you need to know here fella, and other questions just ask and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out! - http://cliotrophy.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0
Saw a Trophy drive past my house at around 6pm yesterday, thought someone had nicked mine, but then I remembered I had taken the brave pills and let the ex take mine as her car is in the shop!
I had a phase 1 172 before the Trophy, and the handling of the Trophy is much better. Higher levels of grip, less roll, better damping etc all contribute to improving what was already a very sorted car. On my favourite roads, I find I am taking some corners around 10mph quicker than I used to...
