During the 5 years I've owned this car it has never let me down...
So, to sum this up were the failing cases from BG due to a scored piston and the other 2 cases due to cracked gas O-roungs?
I may be interested in buying a Trophy but the costs and hassle involved in refurbishing the suspension every so often is putting me off.
Have any Trophy owners driven a...
As above.
In 205 Gti's it is something that needs to be done at some point as the trailing arms wear out where the bearings sit, as a result they pit and you get negative camber and the beam is not workign as it should.
I know the design between the 2 cars is different though as the 205...
Another one who doesn't like the toyos, had them in my wrx, and didn't like them.
Too soft, squeek like pigs, crap steering feel and melt like chewing gum on track.
Thanks Dave!
A 172 is not a bad idea but how long do these (172/182) engines last without needing any work on them?
Ideally I am after a 205 again but to find one in good condition and SBC phase I & II suspension plus putting a Quaife on it would bring the cost up by a lot.
There is a Trophy...
Are the Eibach sportlines the standard front springs?
Sorry to go off topic but what are the rear dampers on Trophies and what is recommended to do with them when you service the fronts?
I was reading somewhere about some Fischer Koni modifications for the rear dampers.
That's good news, a good alignment totally changes a car indeed.
Can you scan and post the printout?
So front camber -2.8 and rear -1.8? That's good to be achieved on standard top mounts.
What castor and toe in/out did you use?
@ Adam Trophy 37, my 205 Gti had the Skip Brown Cars suspension and engine modifications (they used to rally 205's and Sunbeams back in the 80's), it was very planted and progressive on the limit yet still retained the ability to steer it via the throttle.
It was fantastic fun drifting it on a...
p55dud, nice taste in cars you have :D
I need to drive a Trophy from what I read here.
Why did you part with the R26?
The good thing is if I get a Trophy we could probably still keep the FSTI.
Interesting replies guys, thanks.
@ p55dud, I have not driven a R26, I hope it is similar to the RS250.
Btw, none of the 200 or RS250 had Cup packs.
The car needs to do everything, daily driver, long distance trips, adequate space and occasional trackday use.
@ eljeffo64, I have test driven...
Hi,
I test drove a Megane 250 Cup and Clio Sport 200 back to back today and I can't decide which is better.
The car will mainly be a daily driver with occasional trackday use.
The handling of both is great but the Megane might be a better car to live with day to day (if only it looked better)...
My subaru has rubber inserts and yes they may not be as grippy as propper rubber covers but are fine for most of the time.
Looking forward to the pics.
It looks good but you need to make sure those bolts on the bootfloor are up to the job! I don't think they were designed to support such weight but I may be wrong.
I was actually thining about this thing today when looking at some pictures of Trophys! Also Integrales have alloy pedals without any rubber on top.
That's a good idea but is carbon fibre strong enough?
Is there any way to modify the Trophy's pedals like these...
What does everyone do with the rear dampers when refurbishing the front ones?
AFAIK it is not a good idea to have only one set new, all 4 should be done at the same time to have a balanced car.
Yes it was in EVO's car of the year 2005 issue: http://www.litchfieldimports.co.uk/press06.asp
Check the video of Vicki Butler-Henderson in youtube (search for "5th gear Forester Sti") driving it on the track and comparing it with an Impreza Sti (I am at work and don't have access to the link)...
Hi,
As per title, I have noticed that messages get stuck in my outbox.
I have sent 4 messages recently and only one has been sent (and this after a day or so).
The rest are still stuck in the outbox.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers :)
I am not sure I am doing the right thing to be honest, I just fancy a change and most of the time I don't need something so big now.
I am trying to convince my wife to get one for her ;) but doesn't seem to be very keen (maybe until she drives one as she misses the 205 Gti we used to have).
The...
Hi,
Would anyone be interested in part exchanging a Trophy for a 2006 Forester Sti?
The Trophy must have low mileage, FSH and be in mint condition.
The Forester has done 22k miles, FSH, has just had the 3 year service in December (all fluids, spark plugs replaced etc) and needs nothing doing.
It...
