I've heard others recommend Barrie Plant in Bicester, just down the A43, although I don't have personal experience. Worth a phone call perhaps. I believe he's a Renaultsport specialist that runs under the radar. Maybe.
Another option is Dan Potter @ SJM, although Glastonbury is quite a trek...
Congratulations, Ash! It's great to see everything has come together in this might fine example - well worthy of it's tag as Trophy #501.
Aesthetically it's in such a good place now, I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I remember how 'high' it looked on the standard setup, but now it looks...
I've seen "2 degrees negative camber, and 10 minutes toe out" posted before in response to similar questions, but that would require you picking up a set of Eibach camber bolts or similar.
You can also get flat and cambered shims for the rear, but I've not found any suggested fast-road set-up...
I don't follow the market but I doubt that too many 1-owner Trophys with 35k appear all that often.
It is a low mileage car. Sure, there will be lower, but the majority are doing 5/6/8/10k a year, hence why they're being priced around £3.5-5k, plus some are missing the crucial front Sachs.
A...
Plenty of people have run the two together and I've never heard any negative comments.
You can buy from Demon Tweeks, BG Motorsport, used from ClioSport.net, eBay etc.
I upgraded the head unit (Alpine CDA-117ri), then I wanted a little bit more so I changed the component speakers to JL Audio something or others.
At the same time I also picked up a Genesis amp mounted under the passenger seat to power the fronts.
I was an improvement although how much was...
Sportlines for me too - better ride than OEM springs and in my experience no lower at all. Plus they're red ;)
Easy to move on and not lose much money if you're not happy with them.
I guess the big sticking point is the belts being done nearly 5 years ago... If you'd consider getting them done by a specialist then it might not add much to value but it would certainly make it easier to sell, plus remove a major haggling point.
For me £4.5k feels a bit low, but I am not...
My advice would be spend an hour doing proper research on the RS Tuner. I think what you may find is that they offer a number of benefits - improved cold start, smoother power delivery, an over-run map (pops and bangs), increased rev limit, better fuel economy, the ability to read various fault...
You could take your car somewhere like Surrey Rolling Road who are a well-respected, independent business. There you will get advice as well as key print outs including AFR (air/fuel ratio) and power/torque curves. The drop-off at high revs is expected and you'll see that in the shape of the...
An alternative take (not necessarily my personal view):
Intake - K-tec Racing induction kit
Exhaust - many options to choose from, and covered a billion times or more here and on CS.net
Map - Buy an RS Tuner
Having seen this car I can say it looks lovely, the shifter is a very nice touch in BG, and when it's dropped a little on the MF springs it is going to look so much more aggressive, I'm really looking forward to seeing the after pictures.
It was a pleasure to meet you, Ash, the car as it...
"day" lol. When we've been in the past it's an early ferry out on Thursday and back on Monday. Such an amazing experience, everyone should do it at least once.
Your Trophy looks great, did everything come off ok? I was a little impatient when I removed my 24s and a respray was required to fix...
I'm also very impressed with your shiny black knob (fnar fnar). How does it attach, is it just screwed on? I'm keen to tidy mine up, but what colour to go for...?
Mike Edwards / Edwards Racing - I think they're up the M3, possibly even inside the M25, but it's one option.
Otherwise, ask Mike at Rentech. No doubt he'll know someone decent.
Sold as seen. Oh well, live and learn.
Keep your eyes peeled on the various clio forums, facebook, eBay etc and I'm sure some will come up sooner or later.
Or take this as a blessing in disguise and fit and enjoy some coilovers like Bilstein B14s, for example.
It's not all about the Sachs...
Personally I'm tempted by Pure Motorsport solid top mounts and brace, but not tempted enough to make a hole in the car... yet. Only a matter of time.
Ktec's mail order side of the business is supposedly very good, never heard a bad thing said, other than some items might be available at a...
If it was me and I was obsessed with keeping it original I'd buy a set of Renault springs for the loft, and fit some Eibach Sportlines, because they make for a more compliant ride IMO.
I'd also 'do a Tommo' and do the full front end, budget-dependent, of course.
I'd go OEM top mounts, plus you...
