Explains why he's been quiet lately, obviously been busy in his new career.
LOL, I had to manually populate the swear filter with words. I'm obviously too innocent to have thought of the c word  Its an exciting way to spend half an hour though.
They are just as cheap, in fact if you go to GSF and ask for OEM replacement discs they will very likely give you Brembo HC's, as that is one of two brands of OEM replacement disc they stock. Or £59 for a pair from Yoz.
The only thing thats better about them is the wear indicators...
Brembo do a 4 pot kit setup for the Clio, I know a number of people with them on Cliosport. Expensive, but they do look excellent, i'd love them on the Trophy if i had a spare grand :?
I'm sure Ktec used to sell an AP kit too, but i've never seen anyone with that and cant find it for sale...
I dont know anyone who uses anything other than standard Renault discs or the Brembo HC's either to be honest.
They are nothing amazingly special, but they are cheap which is the point really. If you run agressive pads then you're going to eat the discs quicker so cheap is good. I'd say...
I've just come to the end of a set of Ferodo DS2500's after running PF 97's since day one with my Trophy. I've been very happy with them, they work nicely on the road and better from cold than the PF's (although i never had any complaints about the PF's from cold) and have used them on a couple...
Work is in progress on these, i've done a bit of research into it and another forum member is doing some costing on them at the moment. Definitely something i'm looking to add to the shop :)
Weird, mines never whistled at all.
My 172 used to whistle but that was air coming through the climate control system, so i either had to have the aircon on or have an annoying whistle
My experience is they just loosen up more and more all the way to 50,000 odd miles.
It was noticable on the rolling road day that we did that the Trophies with more miles on were getting better results (although we're talking 2 or 3 bhp at the wheels or so between 2k cars and 8-9k cars.
I'll check my old policy document later but i'm sure mine was just over £600 last year so a fairly good reduction, although thats going from 4-5 years NCD for this year so i suppose that's to be expected. I also had a non-fault claim worth £15k that no longer needs to be declared (now...
I've just renewed mine with Privilege today as it happens. I've not been able to beat them or in most cases get that close to them for the last 3 years.
Trophy, 26 years old, 5 years NCD, no points or claims.
£399 fully comp. (Although that bumped up to £515 with protected no...
The marks on the driveway would suggest its not uncommon on Mk1 172's either
Yeah the rear shocks on my 172 went and very quickly the car became a real handful to drive, even at 30mph the rear end felt 'floaty' in corners. I'd only done 30k miles on them with some trackdays and that...
Thats very true. If we all had the standard Clio dampers, i guarantee several of us would have had replacements by now after finding them leaking oil everywhere.
These Sachs units definitely seem to be the high quality we expect them to be. Mine have probably had to work harder than most...
No I don't think anyone is having a dig at you personally, I think we are really taking the piss out of the people who wont look at a car because of something posted on here. I'm gutted that people have been put of your car for something posted on here, I certainly sympathise with the problem...
If its something related to the Trophy, then it should be discussed on here in my opinion. With all this talk over the last few weeks about things they've posted on this site affecting their sales, I'm wondering what the point is. I might as well shut the site down if nobody wants to discuss...
So I was chatting with Bernard Olivier the CEO of Renault Sport at the weekend (as one does  ) and he brought up the subject of the Trophy dampers.
Apart from talking about how good they are he mentioned that the one negative is the need for them to be replaced / rebuilt more often...
The Owners Register is now only visible to logged in users on the site. I didn't really want to have to do that, as i hoped it would encourage people to register when first discover the site, but I have changed it.
This doesn't really change things though, at the end of the day if you dont...
I've condsidered getting one a few times purely for cosmetic reasons, but for the amount of times people see under the bonnet of my car, it's not worth it. The money could be better spent elsewhere.
Although the K-Tec carbon ones are very good quality and with a polished inlet manifold...
