Hi Titan, yes the mag will post to Ireland, but thanks to Brexit there may be a rather expensive postage fee. It's something that is extremely frustrating for me, as mainland Europe is £10.35 shipping for example, and that's with no mark-up whatsoever. It's certainly harming sales, and I hope...
As mentioned previously I'd like to proudly announce that I'm taking the plunge and self-publishing Rush. Dubbed XP1, this is a pilot issue to test the market and is thus limited to 1,000 copies. It features a collection of some of my favourite material from the digital mags, mixed in with some...
Just a small update - had a polite and upfront response from Milltek saying currently they do not believe the demand exists for a Modern Classic system on the 182, so are not actively pursuing it. I guess we need to either convince them by drumming up interest on the bigger 182 groups/forum or...
Love the E39 M5, had an Avus Blue BMW brochure centrefold pinned above my desk as a teenager. A car that is just so "right"
I saw a Lexus GSF the other day and thought that is probably the closest in spirit to the E39 a manufacturer has gotten since
Milltek might have a potential solution - they are gradually rolling out a "modern classics" range of exhausts which have been designed to mimic the tip/look of OEM, with all the benefits of stainless. I will contact them to see if they have any Clio plans. I have no doubt such a system would...
That's some old-school CH right there. I often wonder how great the Trophy/Williams could be if somebody went crazy-resto mod on one. Carbon panels, LSD, BBK, ITB's etc. Get the weight comfortably under a tonne with 200ish bhp
I'm also onboard with the raving about these. You finally feel a part of the car when enjoying yourself. Yes, it does make the ankle hinge a little awkwardly, which can be a pain in traffic, especially with the 182's heavy clutch, but it's worth the trade-off imho
Thanks very much for the info gents. Have ordered a Shaftec.
That'll take the trophy outlay to £659 this month, and that's with the Sachs rebuild to come
Hi all,
Some of you may have seen in my #196 thread it's refurb time. As my car is my daily, I need to keep the car on the road. I have a set of Cup dampers supplied with the car, plus some Cooksport springs I'll give a whirl. Sorry for the rather basic questions, but I've spent a good while...
Having owned both, the GR Yaris is deeply impressive, but the Trophy just makes you smile more
There is just an energy about the Clio, a fizz, an attitude. The GRY has the potential to get there, but it needs modification...and you'd have to be very brave to throw a 10-year warranty in the bin...
Very likely it was me. My mother lives on the island and I was visiting for the weekend, took a ride out to the Copper mine yesterday
Apologies if you waved or acknowledged, complete world of my own
Thanks Nick. North Wales and the "oopnurthring" (Peak District Snake pass etc) are already on the site. Could do with better images as I've scavenged ones from articles performed on the roads (M3 CSL / Mini GP).
I have a North Pennines / ecoty 2022 route I'm sitting on. Some of the best roads...
Hopefully not, the mag and area remain under the radar, and the article has been around for 18 months + (originally shot with a TVR Chimeara/camera phone). If anything, the roads are dominated by armies of cyclists since Bradley Wiggins mentioned it was his favourite training ground for the Tour...
Thought I'd share some of the images taken of the Megane Trophy R (compressed for the web):
Unfortunately, it was far too cold and grim to perform a proper assessment of the car given the conditions, but instead of letting the images go to waste, I've updated our guide to driving around...
Another 1.3 SR first car owner here. Mine was gunmetal grey/silver. Put my foot down once and it literally went through the bulkhead. Rust prone they were not 👀
V8 Vantage would make such a fantastic Gran Touring companion to keep the Trophy company. Certainly not cheap to maintain, but so much class and quite frankly, ridiculous value atm
As Clarkson coined, is there a better phrase in the English vocabulary than "shall we take the Aston?"
Hi Northy - shoot location was the Forest of Bowland (west leg - Longrigdge > Inn at Whitewell > Trough of Bowland > Quernmore > Bentham). It's a proper Lancashire hidden gem and perfect "Trophy Territory". Nice and quiet, tight, bumpy and twisty, plus open and flowing sections too. There is a...
Thanks for the interest guys. Even at the above price it'll be a loss leader, but hopefully I can justify it on the grounds of generating publicity. Meeting a potential printer/publisher this week, will update :)
Thanks Ed, I believe my car may have them removed as it's already quite difficult to slide the seats back and forth. Agree with the faceache comments, might have to brave it!!
Thanks for the kind offer guys. I might have just secured one off Ebay after some determined searching, but no pictures were included #mightbeascam #fingerscrossed
As for the list, for me, it has to be the Integra-R. It's the daddy, despite being a fully paid -up Clio RS fan club member...
The one with the greatest FWD test. If anyone is willing to sell me their copy, or could be good enough to offer a loan (I would cover Royal Mail tracked costs both ways) I would be over the moon. It's the one issue of the mag that's missing from my Trophy haul
Can anyone recommend a current solution - I know John Frayz(?) used to manufacture his own but I cannot find a set for sale.
As well all know it's an Achilles heel of the car I really want to solve, without the need for harnesses etc
Thanks in advance
