Yes, I think it's just how cast alloy degrades, I'm hoping given the very limited mileage I will be doing and with a bit of care I will be able to keep it in good condition
Yes, reasonably easy job. You need a trolley jack with a decent piece of wood under the sump to take the weight off the engine mount then it's the 3 bolts in the alloy mount piece and the 4 into the inner wing.
The fuel rail cover is just 2 nuts in the recessed holes on the front of it.

can anyone help me out with one of these, whilst trying and failing to remove the arms one of the covers sprung out of my fingers and into the depths of the engine bay!!!!
Given the number of old farts on here I'm guessing there will be some home "hifi" knowledge.
Everyone seems to rave about Sonos stuff. I've had a quick look and it seems well reviewed but how does it work? I'm presuming it's a wifi or Bluetooth link but where is it powered from and if you buy...
If it's done 50k it's been round the block a few times D. Looks like the rattle can silver could be hiding quite a bit, not sure I'd be putting my £165 into it.
Having driven my Cup and the Trophy back to back I don't think, unless you're driving more than 8/10ths, that the difference is that appreciable. With both cars if you are just pressing on along winding A and B roads both are just great. Like all of these things, brakes, suspension, squeezing...
Low miles, low keepers, Sachs redone when back from Rik and a spread of service history. Obviously the Cat D is the elephant in the room for any buyer. I reckon it would be worth £6k as a straight car, knock £1500 - £2k off for cat D
IIRC
Vs the standard 182, the Cup suspension has a lower ride height, stiffer springs (20% front, 15% rear) stiffer dampers (20% front, 10% rear), strengthened front wheel hub carriers and revised steering geometry
Well, debate over, new stripes fitted. I've done the whole of the car with the rotary polisher, removed the rear badges to do a proper job on the tailgate and put them back on with that marvellous adhesive film that only sticks to the back of the letters.
New stripes on the bonnet and tailgate...
Having identified that most of us on here are beyond the first flushes of youth I thought I would look to you for a bit of a steer on whether or not to re stripe the Cup. I've just had a new bonnet (easier than trying to sort the rust on the double skinning of the old one) and a front end...
Oven cleaner- Crikey Paul that sounds serious ! :grinning:
I just loosen the bottom anchor, it's a torx bolt, take the bolt out and unhook the belt off it then reel the full length of belt out and put a crocodile clip at the top to stop it recoiling. Then get a bucket with the hottest water in...
For goodness sake don't let it go cheap to a dealer, they are looking to snap these up and happy to sit on them with a good margin across them. I recall the last guy who had a similar car sold it to a dealer for about £7k who then put 2 grand plus on it and sold it fairly quickly
Fiona used inertiabelt.co.uk. They seem to be a decent product but your looking around £350 iirc for a set of 5. They do some good colours.
In all honesty Chris I've used the same technique for cleaning the belts in both the Trophy and Cup and they have come up like new, every mark removed then...
