Recently in this cold weather up north the trophy has been over-revving on a morning. Is this normal on the 182 engine as some sort of warming up process or is there something going wrong? It doesn't do it once warm that's all and this is the first winter I've had it
Cheers
Yeah the megane trophy racer is awesome. A while back someone was asking on the renaultsport forum how much and I think £120k was mentioned for a track only car
Think you're getting mixed up with the R26.r! The trophy was only made in '05, the R26.r is the amazing 2 seated track focused car which is like an extreme megane trophy I suppose
They are, but I don't think a Megane Trophy is as big a difference as a Clio Trophy is to a clio cup - if you get what I mean. It was more a megane cup - think it was the first megane with cup chassis iirc
If someone HPi's it and it comes up as a cat C or D, I don't think you'll get near £6500 for it. It'd be about that 51k in decent condition i reckon. But if it doesn't show as a cat C or D then you should get that.
Stand in their shoes, would you pay that amount for a damaged Trophy?
Sorry...
Didn't 5th gear do a test on if a higher RON is better?
iirc the results were no difference on a n/a engine, a bit better on a golf gti mkV, and something like a scooby running much better on optimax. Think the conclusion was that only super high performance really benefits. Can't find the...
Best thing, get in one and see for yourself. I've never driven a RX8, but my friend's been looking at some pz's and taken some out. Then he came up from London for a play in my Trophy and guess which one he wants now
Don't want to sway any decissions, but after I drove one I sold up...
Out of interest what do you drive now? Might give us an indication on how the Trophy compares. I use mine for country lane blasts and can safely say there's nothing in this price range I'd rather be in. Not done a track day but someone will pop up who has. I came from a renaultsport megane, and...
1. I think the rave reviews it's still getting like in EVO helps too.
2. People who could never afford one when they came out (me, I was only 22 and insurance was a killer) are thinking about it again.
3. Some people have come back from 197's as it's more an involving drive imo
4. Limited...
Actual running costs no different. Dampers are the only difference cost wise really, but you can pick one up that's had them refurbed. It's only £500 or so to get them done if not and they don't need doing often. Does it make a difference? Hell yeah!!
I'm running a seperate car fund alongside paying off the T. Only about £200-300 a month. But when the T's paid for, I'll have a good chunk so I can afford to keep it  (unless car fund + T = Nissan GTR)
beware if you're going to have a go at one, I know of some that have been mapped to 340bhp :o
if it's a straight road, no chance, but get them on the back roads and they will really struggle
There's a group of us from Yorkshire who regularly meet up and go for a blast in the dales, over to the lakes, or head on the back roads for a blast. Look over on renaultsport.co.uk forum for events
I know it's not north east, but trust me it's worth the trip down, we find some nice twisty...
