I have to admit that I find writing this post both difficult and disappointing.

However, it has come to my attention that there are a few people who sent their Sachs dampers to Rik for refurbishment many years ago, and who have not been able to get them back. I, too, find myself faced with the same predicament. Despite making contact with Rik, I am seemingly no closer to getting them returned.

Is anyone else here affected or find themselves in the same position? If so, please don't hesitate to get in touch (either through posting here or by sending me a private message).

Thanks to kind people on this forum, a couple of fellow Trophy owners have come forward and offered to pick up my dampers directly from Rik on my behalf, if I am able to get his details and arrange a suitable pick-up date/time. I believe Rik is still based in the Northampton area. If more people come forward then I may look to arrange a bulk pick-up, and then I will happily make the arrangements to get the Sachs sent back to their owners. That, of course, depends on being able to come to some arrangement with Rik.

This really is a shame as Rik was a fellow Trophy owner and strong supporter of the group. His refurb service was very popular and yielded great results. Whilst it no doubt took a considerable amount of his time to refurb the dampers he received, it is plain wrong that he still has sets in his possession that have not been returned (despite being asked). Especially given the fact that the expensive Sachs are a signature item on the Clio 182 Trophy and their presence (or lack thereof) can have an impact on sale/resale and desirability.

Jesus that's incredibly poor form and makes no sense, can't believe that was who you were referencing in your original thread.

What possible excuse is being given?

Nothing is being given at the moment, Patrick. From chatting with others, it appears that they have been blocked from contacting him. Hence the reason why they reached out to me. Very disappointing.

I am surprised at Rick for doing this.

He did my dampers , back in the day, with no issues, and as far as I was concerned he is / was a good upstanding chap..

I hope you all manage to get your dampers back, soon..

That's why the whole situation is so disappointing and frustrating. I'm not sure what is going on.

How many people‘s sets has he got ?
I had a message from him around 18 months ago on Facebook saying he still did them but I decided to use BG thankfully .
Such a shame as he had a great reputation here .

Reading Sharky's first thread about originally sending his (now AWOL) set away in 2018, I dodged a bullet as well. In 2018 I had mine boxed and was literally away to be taking them to the UPS drop-off point that day when Rik messaged saying not to send them.

I'm only aware of three sets. There may be more.

Im not going to comment on this too much as it does not directly effect me but im slightly pissed that I was "WRONG" as I do recall a "Keyboard Fallout" between myself and Rick Perry along with some others regarding Sachs dampers and how I always sided with BG motorsport and there work.

Im sure at that point I questioned the user on parts, reliability and warranty regarding his builds, Im not going to blow my own trumpet but if you are messing about with gold horse $hite and how rare it is just like Sachs dampers you are going to want to make sure they are A) Done correctly and B) you actually get them back and have good communication with the company or person that has them.

I hope all works out for everyone missing a set.

If anyone needs a spare set they can buy a whole car and get a spare set free :D

I’m not sure if I ever weighed into this or not. Yes you had a point but I’m not sure if you were “right“ lots of people (not me) received dampers that were great. But I don’t think it is very cool crow over the misfortune of others.
