Servicing & Maintenance Specialists

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on specialist and reputable garages for a major service, inspection, and any necessary work on my Clio 182 Trophy.

The Sachs dampers were refurbished in 2021 and the original springs checked. I’ve only covered about 500 miles since then, so I’d expect them to be fine. However, I’ve got a slight knocking from the front end over bumps, and the springs feel a bit softer compared to another Trophy I owned earlier this year (with original suspension) this Trophy seems to roll around corners slightly more in comparison. Would appreciate some guidance on this.

On the engine side, it could probably do with a remap. I’m running a Milltek sports cat (annoyingly which doesn’t pass emissions), and the EML is on, likely due to the lambda sensors picking up out-of-spec readings.

I’ve used K-Tec Racing in the past for servicing and repairs, but they’re quite a distance from me, and I believe there may be better specialists closer by - Bedfordshire area. I am happy to travel to someone good.

Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated.

Just to echo @Claude , both AW & Mick Pittman at Diamond Motors are well regarded. I’ve not used AW personally but heard good things. Mick at Diamond has been my go-to for belt services for a good few years now and would recommend him for this kind of work.

Re-map wise I highly recommend EFI tuning - @EFIParts in Runcorn - sadly a bit of a distance from you though. Chris has a fantastic reputation and is a master on the rolling road, I can’t speak highly enough of my recent experience there.

Just a note on your suspension knocking & softness, it sounds to me like it could be that the top mounts need doing. It’s good practice to replace these when dampers are being done, but not everyone does.
