Which is why I Ihave struggled to find the right solution for the track. The only 205/45x16 are Kumho Ecsta V70a or Hankook RS2 (i think that they are too hard with a treadwear index of 200). Otherwise the best way to get the correct rolling radius is to go 205/50x15 - when you can use the A048R.

George - do you think it would be an issue to run 205/55x16?

I don't know, all that I can say is that It will lengthen the gearing by 7% and increase the rolling radius by 20 mm (i.e overall diameter by 40 mm) - could affect clearance - I would check that this will not make the tyre too close to the spring platform.

My biggest concern is that you will lose sidewall stiffness by going up from 45 to 55 profile - and pressure alone will not cure this. Hence you can see why I have tried to look at all solutions.

I may be able to fudge the issue as I have some 15" wheels left over from another car, correct PCD, albeit the ET is 40 rather than 45 - which may just be OK. They are on 195/50x15 which are not so far out - hope to try them at a test day in March.

Ok... I'm about to order a couple of tyres.

Can't decide between F1 GS-D3 @ £76.90 delivered or PE2 @ £87.80 delivered...

:(

Think I will go for the F1s to trial them... but I will be running PE2s on the rear until they wear out as well.

Any other last minute suggestions? :)

If you are not worried about a harsh ride it might be worth trying the Hankook RS2

BTW if anyone is remotely near Winchester, Micheldever tyres are consistently the most competitive and offer brilliant service. It is worth phoning just to get a baseline price 01962-774437. They do not do Hankook though, for which I go to Bridge tyres in Taunton, who are also Yokohama A032 & 048 dealers for the South West.
