IMO the rear seats in the trophy are a total waste of time. Non of my friends can sit happily in the back.
I've had the rear seats of my trophy out so i could transport a few things and i did notice the difference. *edit* in the exhaust noise.

I also don't believe taking out seats or carpet is sad. I was at a porsche tuning specialist just yesterday and they had a customers 996 gt3rs in the workshop which had been stripped inside. If you've seen a gt3rs interior before you'll know there isn't much in there to start with. They managed to make a substantial weight saving. The car also had over 4k's worth of carbon fibre wheels. Although they didn't really suit the style of the car they weren't on there to look good.

If weight isn't important why not buy a 182 full fat!!

The reason I have taken out the rear seats and the rear carpet is not primarily for the weight saving - it is to allow the exhaust note to be more audible which in my opinion forms part of your overall driving experience.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

With regards to the practicality of rear seats - they slot back in within 3 minutes (literally). You don't have that option in an Elise (et al.). I use my rear seats for a total of 3 weeks a year so I prefer to have the option than not to have it at all.

Cheers

Have you tried driving with the windows down?

That takes even less time for the mod. And it is really good too.

Yes Gents,

It is a trusty Subaru.

I am afraid that I do not own a subaru jacket, nor do I have a 555 plate. I do however have subaru pyjammas and 666 tatooed on my skull.

Hey, and guess what.... she sounds just fine without taking out seats and ripping up carpet.

i see where Nitro's coming from with the mans car thing ,i mean the clio hardly has a macho image does it ???
and i would defo swap my clio for Ntro's jap escort any day its a very nice example :)

as for scooby owners being chavs ,i think ull find ur fair share of chavs behind the wheels of clios

back to the post topic ,removing the seats and carpet just so that the exhaust noise is louder in the car is just SAD ........

Personal opinions I guess, to me this mod actually seems worthwhile. Save weight and as a side effect, increase the volume of the exhaust in the cabin, can't see anything wrong with either of these points.

OliS - there will always be a couple of outliers.

If I say it saves weight I get shot down.
If I say it adds to the driving experience by making the exhaust note more audible I get shot down.

Should have not posted the idea and kept all the joy for myself :)

Nah, much better to share your experiences, as you say some people will think that it is pointless and some people will appreciate getting the info.

As you know from chatting at the RR day, removing the back seats is something I want to do myself, so knowing how much of an easy job it was for you makes me much more likely to do it, just got to find somewhere to safely stash the seats...
