Good idea, but it won't help on the torn part where the exhaust mount plate is located - I can only see that getting worse. On top of that I'm still unsure as to where the 3.5k rattle is coming from. The best I can liken it to (don't laugh) is an angry rattle snake. Could again be the heatshield...
Right, I've found and fixed (temporarily) the 2k rattle! It was the rear head shield. One of the securing nuts towards the rear had managed to shear through the heat shield completely and part of it had also sheared where one of the exhaust mounts was located. The temporary fix was simply to...
I thought that might be it at first, but after having a friend listen behind the car it doesn't appear to be the case. Always difficult to tell with these things, but the noise seems to be loudest from inside the car. Only one way to know for sure, under the car tomorrow!
Thanks for all the replies. Still not sure on the 3k ish rattle and it's deffinately not down to the lambda sensor wire as that's been sorted. I'm not too worried about it as another louder, more serious rattle has started around 2k!
On the plus side, I've identified the 2k rattle as the rear...
I've checked the heatshield above the backbox and nothing seems to be moving about. I did think about removing it to be sure, but thought there may be negative effects.
Hoolio - how long have you been running without it?
Hi all,
I don't post much on here, but I thought there would be a higher number of Orbisoud exhaust owners here than on CS. I'm after a bit of feedback on the exhaust systems. I've had mine on the car for quite a few months and considering the price of the system I've got to admit I was...

Make sure you get wheels that originated from Renault - they are stamped with Renault logos and have an offset you can't generally get from other suppliers. I bought a set of 4 from Whitehouse, I'll check how much they were tonight.
Doesn't look much like a production ready road car to me. Bonnet pins and a roof mounted air scoop? Much more like a racing version in a similar vein to the Clio Cup racer...
They do indeed, they see the reflection and relieve themselves thinking it's water under them. I heard this ages ago, but I truely can't see many birds having a social consience. Anyone know someone with a car with a matt finish that doesn't get shat on?
Can anyone tell me which is the soft compound and which is the medium compound of these tyres? Two I have are marked K20A, the other two are marked K60A - and I have no idea which is which!!
Another trick that works is using the sticky side of duck tape. Press the tape over the glue residue and pull off again - do this repeatedly and it'll all go. No messy liquids.
I've recently changed from PF97 to Mintex 1177. The PF's were very aggressive on disks and replacements were required in under 5,000 miles, excellent performance though. The Mintex pads have only just gone on and I've got a trackday on the 10th - so I'll let you know.
All driven in order of preference:
Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo
Porsche 911
Ford Capri V8
Clio 182 cup
Audi S3
Dodge Viper
Ther rest aren't worth including
Don't the PF97's work by coating the disk (it's what I was told by Mark Fish)? If that's the case then won't you need to swap disks and pads for a trackday?
Mine is a completely standard 182 cup, must admit I was pleased with the times. Tips for a quick time:
Leave T/C off.
Leave air con off.
Side step the clutch somewhere between 4-5k.
Leave it in 3rd over the line (yes it will be bouncing off the limiter, but it's quicker)
An ECU remap...
I've run my 182 cup up at Santa Pod, which can only be marginally heavier than a Trophy, same seats too. I had half a tank of fuel, the temperature was 33 degrees and my runs were as follows:
60ft - 2.624
1/4 - 15.861@90.53mph
60ft - 2.566
1/4 - 15.685@90.69mph
60ft - 2.320
1/4 -...
Your tyres are your only connection to the road, if I was gonna run on track I know I'd want my tyres to be in perfect condition. If not - make sure that you're insured! Look at your avatar and wonder what would happen if the loaded front tyre failed...
ASDA insurance list all variants of Renaultsport 182's but had problems when I put my number plate in - came up as either a Trophy or regular 182. If I left the plate out, I could choose 182, 182 cup or trophy - had to phone in the end to get it right (still got the online discount and very...
The most plausable reason I've seen is that there is a butterfly valve in the standard induction system that causes the whistle, the noise will disapear if you fit an aftermarket induction kit.
Any ideas where? I've searched the net and can find no trace of this for the trendline seat :( There's definately no mention on the official Recaro site.
I really need something because Mrs. Inferno is getting really annoyed with the fact that she constantly bashes her head on the plastic...
If you ditch the air conditioning it would give you the chance to fit a turbo technics supercharger...
www.turbotechnics.com/docs/index.htm
I know this isn't specifically for the Renault engine, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work with low compression pistons...
I'm willing to wager that there are fewer inferno 182 cups with recaros than Trophies on the road... Still my wheels aren't as nice and my spoiler isn't as big. Love both cars, think the Trophy suspension will be best on broken roads by a fair bit.
So what are the wheels on this car? Are they 16" and what width are they? What Offset are these wheels? And do they come from the factory in this colour?
Sorry for the questions, but I think thay look great 8)
