steering wheel removal

just posting this for a mate with a 182

his steering wheel isn't dead straight when driving - its been like that from new. tracking etc spot on - it just needs removing and refitting( assuming is on a splined shaft)

Anyone know the way to do it considering the air bag issue?

Just make sure the battery is disconnected before you do anything, Then you need to unlip the top cover, if you run your hand down the back of the wheel you will feel to clips, unclip the airbag cover and you will see the airbag unit sat behind. Take the airbag out and discounnect it, then you will be able to un do the nut and straighten the wheel.

This should be fixed by adjusting the tracking until the wheel is straight. You may find the splines move the wheel to far.

The procedure is to clamp the steering wheel in the correct position then adjust the tracking to suit.
