Janspeed Purchase + Fitting.......

.........right after a few months of saving and getting the parts on the cheap I now have a Janspeed full system exhaust (with either the silenced on unsilenced mid section) and unsure how this system fits on to the Janspeed sports cat which I also have.

Can anyone who knows a bit about these system enlighten me as the sports cat has a rolled end and the mid section doesn't seem to fit. Is there any cutting involved to join the two together?

First off make sure it's all the same diameter 2 1/4", as ktec have all their own brand exhausts done by janspeed so you could end up with a mis match.

As for fitting it's relatively straight forward, the bit you refer to regarding the sports cat having a different fitting to the mid section it sound's as though you have a small piece missing.

When it's used with a decat there is a small adaptor pipe that is removed so that it's a sleeve fit.

Now I'm really confused!!

Perhaps the rolled end can be removed, it looks like it's welded on mind you. Where would I get this adapter or would the standard system have this when it's removed?

Right, measured the Sports Cat and the output pipe appears to be 2" in diameter whereas the exhaust system is 2 1/4" as you stated.

Any idea where I can get this adapter or is a garage likely to carry them?

The adaptor would have to bought from ktec, I'm not sure if its available seperately but TBH the most restricive point of the exhaust system is at the rear of the cat where it drops to 2", the sports cat still has this restriction so IMHO it's a waste of time.

If your determined to have a cat in the system I'd be tempted to sell the sports cat on, and with the money from it have the markfish style modification carried out, this is having the restrictive part of the cat cut off and a larger bore pipe fitted. You would have to have the whole setup slightly longer than normal to take into consideration the missing adaptor.

Just out of curiosity how much has it cost you all in? As I sold a 4000mile janspeed of mine complete with genuine decat for £200 a couple of months ago.

Exhaust was £200 but that included both silenced and unsilenced centre sections. The Sports cat was £150 posted so not too bad. I have a reputable firm at the end of my road (http://www.powercraftengineering.com/) and wondering if they will be able to come up with something.
