Sometimes people can’t be bothered with the hassle of changing things.

A scratch or trolley ding is easy and relatively cheap to repair yet how many people spend time sorting them all out every time they get one?

Agree some things are easy, but how many times have I heard "small spot of rust cheap to sort out" which we all know it's usually not. It's time and hassle plus the unknown. A sensible seller does the easy and cheap stuff.

It also reflects on how OCD an owner is. Better to buy a car from a true enthusiast who sees ownership as a period of car for their car.

Totally agree, and I try to buy my cars from
enthusiasts for the reasons you’ve given.

Sadly, for every proper enthusiast, there’s probably 4 owners who try to run the car on a shoestring with very little money/time/care given to maintenance.

You just need to look at the owners register on here to sift out who cares about their car and who doesn’t.
