    Clio Trophy #491 - £6500

Starting to think I've played a part in lowering the value of these fantastic car by asking too little for mine. Values will soon rebound when next spring comes around.

Maybe buying my 1st Trophy No. 260

I suppose I always think traders are going to be more expensive than a private sale. I seem to remember there was a fantastic lowish owner/miles car on here that went for sub 7 and that really was a bargain. They do come up if you wait around, well hopefully. :)

Deposit taken. If the car doesn't sell I'll update the advert accordingly.

Maybe buying my 1st Trophy No. 260

Sounds pricey I've just sold mine (well taken a deposit) with a few less miles and without many of that cars issues for less than 6.

    Trophy Number 478 £5875

6 previous owners, I knew I'd missed something out of the advert! The Yokos are extremely impressive in the dry, they don't seem to wear much (I am probably not trying hard enough) and I've been caught up in monsoon conditions with standing water and they even coped with that. Obviously they...

    Trophy Number 478 £5875

Glad you think it's well priced. I'd like a quick sale so have priced it accordingly. The car will be located in South Lakes/Lancaster in the NW of England depending on my agenda.

    Reverting to standard induction system.

Thanks Phil, I don't think my fabrication skills would be upto much! I'll just leave the ktech induction kit fitted until I source the missing hose. I did a search for it but couldn't find a price, when you say 'overpriced' are we talking over 100 quid?

    Reverting to standard induction system.

Well, went to fit it all and realised I'm missing hose number one! Does anybody know the part number? I presume it runs to the accoustic valve? If it does can I just blank it off somehow? I'm starting to get confused

    New owner from mainland europe

Hi Patrick, nice to hear of a Trophy on the mainland! I'm driving mine to Lech in September so if I see another I'll know who it is!

    Trophy prices

I don't see prices coming down at all, the car is reckoned to be one of the best hot hatches of all time. If that's true or not I wouldn't like to say but it's one of the best I've driven. Some folk will happily pay 10K for a family holiday so to shell out a lot less than that for a hot hatch...

    Reverting to standard induction system.

Yes it's just sat on the battery tray with the hoses and that to hold it in position. Obviously that isn't good enough so I've reverted to the ktech intake which was installed by the previous owner. As soon as I get the brackets the original will go back in.

Thanks guys, next question. Anyone breaking a Clio :)

    Reverting to standard induction system.

I'm returning my car to standard spec and have obtained an airbox and two pipes which I've fitted and it works fine. However there appears to be something missing from my car- there is nothing to bolt the airbox to! I have the two bolts that go front and rear of the box but there is nothing to...

    Tyres.!!!

I use them, they're fantastic in the dry and give great 'feel at the wheel'. Pretty useless in the wet though and noise levels are high on your average crappy UK road. Not to say you can't drive the car when it's raining but you need to treat it with respect rather than just throw it around...

    Rear shock absorbers

The previous owner refurbed, depinned and powder coated the fronts not long ago, the car has a PMS strut brace and therefore solid top mounts which surprisingly offer a fantastically compliant ride. It's an upgrade I recommend to anyone. Rear shocks were in situ since the car was new. The rear...

    Tyre pressure gauges

I use a Halfords digital jobby. I have a luxury metal item and a cheapo plastic one. The plastic one works better. Neither are currently available but both are over 10 years old and still work perfectly. I like the idea of analogue gauges but in practice I've always found reading them more...

    Rear shock absorbers

Replaced the rears with OEM items just because they looked so ratty and I thought a car of the Trophy's handling prowess deserved to be kept in tip top condition. I'm not sure they needed changing but the top mounts certainly did, they were falling apart. I used powerflex purple replacements as...

For Those of You That Need Replacement Boot Struts

The SGS ones definitely fit, just make sure you ask for them to be gassed to a stronger value than standard.

    Brembo conversion

Re: Seat belts. The belts on my car were more brown than silver when I took ownership. A few hours with an old electric toothbrush and some upholstery cleaner has had them looking like new. Bit of time/hassle to do though.

    Sikora's Trophy #456

How awful. However maybe you could buy it back from them as 'scrap' after they've given you the insurance settlement and be quids in if you hold out for a decent payout. Don't take their first offer whatever you do.

They do good money in France

Simple supply and demand. Nobody in the UK wants old cars, most people just go from lease to lease these days and the ones that don't won't pay much for their cars. Also it's a limited market, there aren't that many places that use RHD vehicles and nobody from LHD countries want them.

They do good money in France

Used cars in the UK are incredibly cheap as is road tax. I was looking at an '04 182 in the Netherlands for a friend- asking price was nearly 6000 euros and road tax for the year a snip at 680 euros a year. The car was an utter shed that had been imported from the UAE and had terrible sun...

Sachs rear dampers- why are they supplied bare?

Replaced the rear suspension bushes with powerflex items today to compliment the new rear Sachs. Almost unbelievably they've actually made a noticeable difference. Took the car round a local handling circuit and the rear of the car feels less 'lead from the front' and more 'connected' to the...
