tut tut, don't you know how tyres work? a 165 also has the same contact patch as a 185. interestingly, a 145 is also the same as the 165. It also goes the other way, so a 225 is the same as a 205. Basically all tyres have the same contact patch size. but only on a clio williams

yup i know, but some cars have a seperate handbrake caliper (dont know if the clio is one of these) which is the one that sticks. anyway, thanks for the reassurance,

same thing then - im assuming its than handbrake since it has been left on at the time

i'm finding quite often when i set off that the handbrake has seized over the last few days. it's not a huge problem, theres just a crack as it unsticks then it seems to be fine. although i think sometimes there is a bit of a grinding through the brakes - perhaps there have been small deposits...

ive found somewhere that can do both wheels for £70+VAT, but I need to give them the wheels for 3 days. any idea where i can borrow a set of crappy steels from for a few days? i have access to garage facilities so i can change them over without many problems

the tech guy in evo claims his honda jazz does 44mpg on 95 and 46mpg on 98, which roughly cancels out the price difference. so if you can get a slight bit of extra performance too with the higher RON then its a no lose situation....
