I didn't find softening the dampers improved anything, ride wise; however, for the track (in the dry) a bit harder is better. There's no disadvantage to unpinning (other than cost) - in fact when mine were dyno'd they ended up two clicks different left to right, so unpinning allowed them to be...
Still a bizarre reaction to an overtake! Maybe they wanted you to pull over for a look at the car..... On the other hand, you never know what's going on in people's heads these days; best to stay as far away as poss. Oh dear, what is becoming of good old Blighty :-(
Mind you, I feel the same way about rear ARB's mounted to a suspended solid beam but there are those who say it makes a difference (quite how I've yet to work out ; no response rqd on this, I know how an arb works by the way :-) ).
IMO If you have no stm's then no use; I have a front strut with STM's and can't honestly say the strut makes any difference; doesn't do any harm though so it stays on.
The numbers, by the way, are relative; i.e. only useful to compare before and after on the same dyno on the same day. So don't get hung up on the figures, it's what it drives like that's important.
Those numbers are fairly normal for a stock motor from my understanding. My one was just over 170bhp pre mapping and induction kit - now it's just over 186 with 166 ft lbs torque.
The drivers weight is a constant - his or her car has the same weight driver before and after fitting the heavier seats so it will weigh more; but so what. I suggest adding weight in a more considered way, 6.5 kg gives the driver a good few curries to enjoy before the cars performance is...
Mine have been on for a while now - nothing negative to say, not overly harsh (the uprated engine/gbox/dogbone mounts were more noticeably harsh) - very pleased and well engineered compared to the rubber std tm's.
Neil, there's a whole thread on tyre choice on here somewhere. I (like you) bought my T for trackdays, (was doing too many in my 997!) and opted for a set of 15" rims with R888's keeping the std 16" rims with PE2's for the small amount of road work I do in the Clio. 3 sets of Toyo's later I'm...
Lots of people use them here (pyrenees SW France) when going up skiing and seem to cause no problems - can see the logic in chains offering better grip but if the sock things can be fitted on the T and chains can't then maybe worth a go...
