Went back today to try and get it up the hill, but didn't even get as far as last night! Looks like not a single person had driven up the road either, simply because to get to that point was hard work.
So the clio is parked back where it was last night for tonight too :(
I was only thinking about buying a hilux the other day for our trip accross the world, and it'd be damn useful! Saying that a scoob is probably more fun 8)
The trophy isn't going anywhere today as the road is totally snowed under, with plenty more coming down!
IvArkGraham - I've driven in the snow and ice plenty of times no problems, the clio is the first car i've had that's really had problems! The ASR on the vRS was far better at tackling snowy slopes, and to be fair there is 15cm+ of snow laid on top of a thick layer of ice, and i live in the...
Scary half hour for me and 427 earlier!
My road is one car wide and generally crap, went to see a mate, or tried to! Got to a very steep hill(going down) with some sharp corners and huge banks each side, a few people have lost control and rolled there! Anyway going very slow, abs kicks in and...
Woody i got mine done @ rentech for a very good price, that was just the cambelt & aux belt job though, i do the servicing myself. Costs well under half what you were quoted, and only down near portsmouth.
Renault did my aux belt service 9k ago, found when having the cambelt done this week that the aux belt tensioner was seized :(
Had my cambelt done at 50k just over 3 yrs, the tensioner and idler were both worn so i'm glad i got it done. Another 3 years and 50k to go! Will do the aux belt kit...
Re: Koni Adjustable rear Shocks
The konis look nice, i do need to do my rears at some point in the near future really although it feels ok at the moment.
Spunked £580 on genuine renault cambelt kit fitted & the aux belt tensioner was seized so had a new renault full aux belt kit too(only 9k...
I spliced into the ISO loom, ran the feeds from stereo to crossovers, then the mid outputs back into the ISO loom so the crossovers are inline as such, then ran seperate wiring for the tweeters as you have to take the top of the dash off to change tweeters and hide crossovers anyway.
Fitted the refurbed dampers and wacked half a turn each side toed outwards(from where it was) and it now drives exactly how it should, and even better than when i first got the car. I'd say the dampers did need doing, and now i can leave them for another 50k :D And the toe definitely made a big...
Apparently my dampers were the best he's seen so far, despite them having done 50k! One had a bit of air in the oil and a little less gas pressure than the other but they dyno'd very similar.
Anyway i had them refurbed and new adjusters "unpinned" so i might run them a bit softer for winter and...
I wouldn't upgrade the rears really, keep it faded forwards quite a bit.
If you've got £250 to spend you'll get some very nice speakers.
Bear in mind that you will definitely NEED to fit baffles and sound deadening, as well as a proper seperate amplifier to get anywhere near the potential from...
Any 13cm speakers fit in.
If you are fitting coaxials(not recommended) you need to disconnect the standard tweeters.
If you are fitting components you need to mount the crossovers in the dash somewhere and fitting the new tweeters may require some sort of bracketry depending upon what you go...
They look pretty good! I always do my own detailing as i couldn't trust someone else on my paint
Just make sure you don't use car washes after you've had it done! Going for full rotary polish yeah?
Simpsons name is Ant. If the wheel is for use as a spare then i think it's mad to buy a new turini & exalto for like £250+ if there's a considerably cheaper option, i mean how often do you get a flat tyre?
The 182 cup & 182 cup suspension packed cars run a wider track which i'm pretty sure is...
Not sure really, there is always a little variation between engines with mileage on them, how they were worn in, manufacturing tolerances etc.
I'm pretty certain it's reliable, one of my mates got around 170 @ fly on his GTi6 with filter & exhaust, another breathing modded '6 made 175, few...
Myself and some friends ran a rolling road day for our club, 30 cars run in total!
Mr T managed:
184.6bhp @ 6970rpm
148.9lb/ft @ 5790rpm
For a completely standard engine i'm quite impressed, and it's on 50k now so well used, apparently the F4R makes more power with decent mileage on it! Goes...
How do these work?
They fit where the strut bolts to the hub(2 bolts)?
Then they are cam shaped in the middle, with the widest part of the cam being as wide as the shank of the original bolt, then you can rotate it so that depending upon where the peak of the cam is, it will allow the angle...
It will be fine.
Have any of you ever changed the oil on a high mileage diesel engine? Now that's nasty stuff.
Dark brown is ok, thick black is not so good.
Depends what level of clean you want. Do you want full on paintwork correction and seal? Or just a good thorough clean, hand polish and hand wax?
When it comes to proper detailing you'd be best using someone reputable from detailing world, it's very easy to do more damage than good.
They all rust badly, within a few years also! I've driven one but only for a short drive, it felt very weird but quite nice. Great for very tight back roads, not so good on the big fast corners, that's what comes with having a short wheelbase though i guess. Passengered in them for enough miles...
Very nice. Can't say i'm a scooby fan really though.
One of my friends has an X reg cooper sport and an old vtec clubman among a few other exotic cars in his fleet, a few of my friends have had old minis and i do really like them!
Still think the trophy is definitely the best in your garage :D...
Dropping my dampers in to BG in on monday.
Discovered the main reason for my handling problems, i fitted new wishbones which made it feel much better, but the steering wheel still had to be held to the side and i got the tracking "done" straight away, now it seems they set it to 1.5mm toe in...
Some of my friends have used rentech and recommended them so that's where i'll go for the cambelt :D
Basic servicing is extremely easy! The only hard bit about the oil change is getting the oil filter off, which realistically needs one of the tools with 3 arms on it that fits over the end and...
