That depends, does it have full history or not?
You said 'it looks to' lol ... who did the belts/have the dampers been refurbed/what brand are the tyres?
lol. Poor spelling, poor maintenance ;)
Re: the OP's question, seeing the ad would help massively. I would rather buy a mint, well looked after one with 93k on it, but the belts recently done by a specialist/dampers already done, than one with 40k and an average history. I do drive one with...
Yup, just fit some Brembo HC discs and use the existing DS2500 pads.
If you want you could also blead the system - depending on how much material has come off the pads since you last did it.
Looking to spend a little money on the Trophy now as the steering (since the 'tracking was done at Kwik Fit) has got progressively more loose/wobbly over the past few weeks - im thinking they buggered something up with too much heat? Front Sachs seem fine and have only done 15k since they were...
Not sure on the Speedlines, but re: the steering wheel i wouldnt go buying a new one, get an old knackered one for £20 and go for the retrim on Cliosport - costs about £150 iirc. Here's my wheel:
Certainly better than the standard, overpriced Renault tat!!
When would you like to collect? Can be picked up from either Basingstoke, Hampton or Chertsey :)
Yup, colllection or posted?
Yup, collection or posted?
Hi Al,
Doubt many people have tried the Bilsteins as you cant get them in Cup/Trophy fitment :(
Although apparently ktec are working on something atm.
I'd be keen to try them, Bilstein B8/GrpN were always outstanding on my 106/306/saxos.
I use Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W40, goes in the Trophy & the 330i so i can buy in bulk from Opie.
Trophy gets changed every 6-8k. Only £34 for 5L so i normally get 20-25L each order.
People buy 2118s so that they can look like the cup racers. Unfortunately, they are made of pig iron, unlike the magnesium ones (i think) that the race cars use ...
FYI, R888's are also alot heavier than normal tyres :)
Other than the steering which is better, i think that the mk3 is actually better overall ...
But if i bin the T on a trackday, i can buy another 172 for 500 quid. Not quite the same with a 197 lol.
Factory fit on the 172 Cup & 197/200 iirc.
Great tyres, although i currently run Hankook V12 Evo's as they are great tyre, & fantastic value for money!!
Yet another e46 BMW lol.
I lasted 2 weeks before realising that the Trophy is for life, not just track days.
197 is brilliant (& arguably a far better car), but im emotionally attached to my old pink shed.
Couldnt bring myself to sell it :o
Well, it's time to clear out all of the stuff I’ve got kicking about (1 double length garage and 2x sheds worth). If you need it, chances are i've got it kicking about.
All parts are from either a Titanium Ph1 172 with 85k, a Monaco Blue Ph2 172 with 72k, a or a Titanium Silver 182 with 58k on...
Mine did 170k without needing a refurb lol. In addition, having driven clios on most setups, ie H&R, AST, Bilstein, FK Konigsport, Koni, vmaxx, etc, the Sachs (with a whiteline arb) is still imho, the best for track & road.
(As per pm on CS)
From my understanding both sets of springs are roughly the same rating at about 160lbs, but the standard Eibachs are only straight wound, compared to the Sportlines which are progressively wound.
As such, the latter give a much better low speed ride quality (being progressive...
Imho, it drives nicer on 15's anyway. As well as allowing cheaper tyres, lighter wheels, etc.
I've only gone back to the 16" Turinis as i wanted to go back to standard.
As per CS. Lol @ that transmission loss. Which muppets did that?
Considering clios lose about 17% through the transmission, if your ATW figure is correct, that would indicate a very unhealthy engine - pulling only 150bhp or so ATF!!!!!
Which is awful, suggesting the timing is out? Not sure if...
The clio 1*2 loses about 17% through the transmission.
So i'd say the car is probably more likely to be putting out about 165-170bhp ATF, which unfortunately is about right for a standard one - tThey usually chuck out less power if they're had a cambelt change done & the timing is incorrect...
Mines got 182k on it and pulled 175bhp at Surrey Rolling Road - thats with a V6 airbox/Pipercorss filter, BTB catback exhaust, aircon delete & JMS '98 ron map. Most importantly, the cam timing was spot on & it had just had a massive service!!
For the OP to have got 196 it will HAVE to have...
