If you want to recreate this feeling (was my intention having owned 2x106gti's, a saxo vts & 306 Rallye all on Bilstein Grp N's), buy a Trophy, get some 15's & a Whiteline ARB. Its the closest thing you'll get to a proper old skool hot hatch these days!!
Imho, its a little understeery on the...
Had a few questions about all this now, so just thought id confirm a few points for anyone interested
Ideally, i'd rather not split things off, unless buyers are found for the individual parts at once, i.e. someone wants the bodies, someone else wants the rest of it. I dont want to be left in...
Right, just rang Gould to find out.
The suspension was most likely refurbed by chap called Paul Drake who runs Raceline Suspension & rents space in their workshop, he is an authorised Koni repair centre & all round suspension guru. It was him that did my refurb apparently.
Contact Details are...
At a guess then, it was either a private job done by one of the engineers, or the previous owner of my Trophy lied to me lol ...
Either way, the dampers have been refurbed, MOT failure at 170k due to leakage, so they were redone at that point. I've had them off the car numerous times & they are...
My apologies, I did it the other day, cost £151:
4 x NGK PFR6E-10 Spark Plugs - £30 eBay
6 x litres of Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 Fully Synethic & Renault Oil Filter - £45 Opie / Renault
5 x litres Fuchs TITAN SINTOFLUID SAE 75W-80 - £50 Opie
1 x litre Castrol Response Super Dot 4 - £8 Opie
1 x...
Personally, if it genuinely has 5k miles on it, id quite happily buy it if i wanted a prime example to cherish.
Who cares if it needs a service & the belts doing lol.
Cambelt/aux belt/de-phaser - £600 @ JMS, etc.
Major service (parts only) - £150 then fit yourself, its not hard
Damper refurb...
Now for sale as my friend can’t get insured on the 182 with it all fitted lol …
We’re looking to sell the whole lot in one go, so everything that has been changed/adapted we'll give the purchaser - essentially creating a plug & play installation. From memory, this should include the following...
For day to day, I use whatever is cheapest, its a clio, not a 700bhp turbo monster.
If im feeling flush, or doing a track day ill bung some Tesco 99/Momentum in it.
I'm not so much a test pilot, but am very good friends with Tom & James (& Nick who has the only RS extra in existence) ...
Its worth the wait dont worry
Without wishing to sound harsh, that was a rumour spread by a potential trader (Matt Wills), looking to punt on their own springs. Unfortunately, most Trophy owners believed them.
The MF Springs are not Eibachs, they are custom ones, probably made by 'Faulkner' or 'CoilSprings'.
I've...
Depends on your budget tbh.
A cup is an utter bargain these days, ie £3k max.
A good Trophy is still £6.5k
Up to you whether you think its worth the extra. Bear in mind that a Trophy still has a lot to loose in depreciation!!
They are pink though, which is a pretty colour
Few possibilities here:
1. Unless you serviced the car yourself, or checked the oil directly after someone else did it, they might not have filled it up correctly.
2. The F4R leaks around the top of the engine, not sure what this bit is called as im not mechanical, but if you look under the...
Its really only used on track these days tbh, but lets just say that the last 2 sets of wheels i sold, the buyers had to replace the tyres straight away, not due to lack of tread, but due to lack of writing on the sidewalls
POints taken onboard re: the placement of the ARB mounts! Scared to mess with it now though as it feels perfect lol ...
Real advantages?
Well, i can safely say the ARB has turned the clio into the car it should have been from the start, a saxo vts.
Chronic on limit understeer has now been...
The only thing ill be doing now that i run no-liners permantently is creating something to cover the bottom pulley that can be viewed from the drivers side front arch.
It'll probably be fine, but the thought of getting a stone in there worries me slightly.
Out of the 8 clio's i know that regularly do trackdays, we all just pull the liners out for the day. Makes a massive difference, far greater than poncy discs/braided lines :)
Ducts are a great idea, & Yozzasport used to sell them, but they were blooming expensive!!
I just ripped the fog lights & arch liners out. Brakes stay lovely and cool - thats with Castrol SR Dot 4, DS2500 pads & Standard lines/discs. :D
No need for ducting etc imho.
