IMO every front driver is transformed by LSD, even the helical type as per Quaiffe, and even for road use.
On the other hand, the trophy is quite well resolved to work without one, and it is not cost effective to fit one. I have been quoted cca 1200 pounds for the fitting alone. The gearbox...
I think Trophies (all 182s I guess) are incredibly economical for the performance that they deliver.
40 mpg is achievable, mid thirties normal, and absolutely thrashing it everywhere still delivers over 25 mpg. I reset mine for a trackday, and got 17 mpg over a day of only track driving.

I am also in the queue for that first November week. But I am couriering my dampers in, and getting new adjusters fitted.
Going to fit MF spring/rear damper combo AND front camber bolts AND Hankook RS-2 in the same week. Not sure I will recognize the car afterwards :D
They are a softer compound (still a road compound though), but stiffer sidewall (race construction). Better dry grip but noisier and likely a shorter lifespan.
T1R are a harder compound than either - I think of them as a run of the mill road tyre.
Is that list 1a tyre Goerge?
I have now found RS-2's at Mytyres, and placed an order :o
Expensive there at 92 squids a pop, but still cheaper than PE2s
I have just been on the phone with Camskills, and due to a mistake at Hankook factory, the container is now not expected for another 8 weeks
Am now considering Yokohama AD-8, they should now be imported to the UK, but have not yet found anyone who sells them.
Might have to go...
Standard pads - I don't think any manufacturer has the guts to put pads on their car that will be noisy around town, so I guess track day afficionados will forever be changing pads as the first thing they do to a car :) I meant caliper/disc size combo is good as standard, unlike the M3
I...
I am actually in the market for these, but would prefer to pay full price and have new kit on the car. I believe your price needs to reflect the fact that these are used parts, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
Yep, the 135i is a great car. Add an LSD and £300 remap (380bhp), and you have an M3 beater. Add KW Clubsport suspension and you have a seriously focused machine. Best of all, the brakes are good as standard. It's a little odd in appearance, but I can live with that.
I have been playing with similar thoughts, and my shortlist currently looks like this:
Exige S240
135M Coupe
E46 M3 CSL
Spec C RA-R (obviously not RWD - but I love these JDM specials)
All in the 25k -ish range.
I could see a Litchie MX5 in my future as well though.
In any case, I will...
Ha, the power of telephones :D
the container is due in 4 weeks time, in case anyone else is considering them. That should be good enough for me, MOT in 2 months =D>
Thanks Steve.
Seeing as you appear to have an inside track, any ideas when the container will land?
I can probably keep going another month... [-o<
Hiya all,
am looking for a set of these as my next compromise road tyre. I am having a hard time finding them in Trophy size, any tips?
Camskills do them but are out of stock ATM.
Cheers,
Was that one of Ron's? I thought they were all Cups. He can hustle that thing around in about 8.35 as well. Kind of highlights a general stagnation of progress for the Clio's don't it? 172, 182 and 197 all get around in about the same time.
The difference between BTG and a full lap is actually about 30 seconds, probably more for the Trophy as it isn't very fast in a straight line, so I think that the full lap time is very unlikely to be much below 9 minutes, no matter how good the driver is.
I know that a well driven 172 Cup is...
This is a very interesting debate, I have a couple of related questions that have been nagging me for some time:
1) Does anyone know what the adjuster on the Sachs adjustables actually adjusts? Bump, rebound, low speed, high speed, a combination? I would assume that it is either low speed...
I have Brembo HC, Pagid Blues, lines and Motul 600. Brilliant, best brake set-up I have ever had on any car. Equally competent on road or track. Little bit noisy at times but then all performance pads are IMHO.
weird - I wonder if there is something wrong with mine? Every other car I have ever had on track had hot brakes front and rear, just the Trophy not :? It brakes well and is stable under braking, just the rears stay cool.
I was amazed to note that the rears never even got above luke warm at a recent track day at Castle Combe. Don't think there is any point in upgrading either the discs or pads IMO, just get whatever works out cheapest. I would in fact steer clear of performance pads, as they may never get up to...
Aha - solid top mounts. Is there a review by anyone on here of their solid top mount experiences? How are you all finding them? I am seriously sonsidering fitting them with my camber bolts, just not sure yet.
Also 7Mat, to get 2.5 degrees, which camber bolts are you using?
I have tried to declare modified brakes to my insurer (Swinton) and they informed me that they were not interested in a pad/disc change, would only care if I changed calipers. A bit odd, but there you go :o
Performance pads are always a bit noisy, the better performing carbon metallics especially so, but apart from applying copper grease to mitigate it, there is not much you can do. You have to decide whether the better performance is worth it to you. I tend to find that the noise dies down a bit...
