I don't think a charge would be a good idea for the forum. I'd be more than happy to pay a small contribution now but if I was new to the site it would really put me off. I think you would be left with a group of hardcore regulars but fewer irregular visitors. I think Cliosport could support...
I think it's a bit hasty to say this - yes the Sachs on the Trophy are an expensive damper but that shouldn't necessarily mean it follows that they are harder wearing as the Ohlins equipped VX220 shows.
We simply do not know the life of the dampers yet - no-one appears to have driven them for...
I've just had new ones on the front with no problem.
Putting new tyres on the rear is suggested as it will result in the car having a tendancy to understeer rather than oversteer which is obviously better for the average driver who would instinctively back off if the car started sliding.
I...
Did your shunt damage the inner wing / front chassis member? Looks like that has been damaged on this one... still, I'm surprised to see it in a salvage yard.
it's the 166 but i'll let you off  (excellent luxo-barge btw - I will own one someday!)
I dont doubt the Trophy is capable of 20k/year - I've done 14k since late october but I believe 1 guy on here has done 36k already!
Speedline Freak, if you had any kind of skill you could have had something like this keeping us on edge for weeks but you shot your load after only a couple of days.... ah well. No wonder your last post seems so excitable!
Still we have the dubious pleasure of your promised return, see if you...
I've only heard good things about Northampton Motorsport, although I haven't used them yet myself - they're where I'll be trying first if I get alignment done.
I think this is their address: http://www.northamptonmotorsport.com/
Thanks for that George - I used to have A539's on my 205 and thought they were pretty good, but more so in the dry than wet. The certainly improved turn-in response over the previous tyres, which I presume was down to a stiffer sidewall.
I take treadwear index with a pinch of salt given that...
I've stretched another couple of months use out of my tyres since I first started considering replacement but I need to get them done now. It's come down to a choice between the standard Michelins or Yoko's at about a tenner a wheel less...
Has anyone put Parada's on their Trophy and what did...
As the tyre place stated they *should* be fine - the repair will have to be capable of standing up to anything that would be thrown at an undamaged tyre.
However I wouldn't run a repaired tyre on any kind of performance car as in my opinion it's not worth the risk of failure.
Ah the world famous NOTW motoring section - revered by motoring enthusiasts the world over...
Don't know how I'll be able to resist the 197 if its sportier, racier AND has slinky chrome trim!
I don't think so but I'd say the novelty value might make it more "saleable"
I've got Fisi's sig on my dasboard strip, I'll try to post up a pic later....
Nik,
Have a word with Jamie Beeston from http://www.register1.net/
He's a regular on Pistonheads and I know there are a lot of very satisfied customers of his on there - have a look through the "Computers and Stuff" section for some of his posts if you need any proof!
I think the discs are undoubtedly cheap but I wouldn't blame this for them rusting - my previous Honda was just as bad if not worse. I don't think corrosion protection is a great factor when the manufacturers select disc material. A bit of surface rust won't do any harm at all - it'll be removed...
Mines just been in for its 12k service - both front and rear pads evenly worn (can't remember the percentages i'm afraid but certainly less than 50% for the rears)
Sounds like yours might have a problem - perhaps they have been binding?
