Hi all,
I've recently had the front and rear dampers replaced/rebuilt as well as the top mounts. Its going back in the shop tomorrow to have the ball joints replaced as well ready for a full geo alignment on saturday.
The guy at the geo place mentioned the track rod ends can sometimes be a...
I've been talked into getting some camber bolts and adding some -ve camber on the front of the Trophy :)
At the ring last year that car felt absolutely fantastic but did lack a bit of grip I thought.
I'm sure the camber on the front would go a long way towards fixing that but why do people...
Just had the front dampers back from BG motorsports, and replaced the rear dampers and top mounts at the same time. Imagine my surprise to hear creaking still coming from the front suspension somewhere [-X
I've done some digging around on here and people suggest replacing the ball joints at...
Have sent mine off to BG for a rebuild, they've been very helpful so far. Did cost me £50 in postage to send them though, insured for only £500
Just to answer a question from earlier... BOTH (original) rear dampers carry the part number 8200 519 954.
When I called Renault they gave me a different part number saying their system said the trophy should have the cup dampers i.e. the cup dampers have the different part number.
I've...
From what I've heard today they are the standard 182 ones, NOT the cup ones
The Renault parts system says the Trophy should have the 'extreme road pack' which according to their parts system is the cup dampers but from looking at the shocks themselves the part number is 8200 519954 which the...
Can I ask a stupid question - why are some people changing the springs as well as the dampers? :? Just called Renault and those dampers are £113+VAT each
Awesome thanks Ben I haven't noticed anything wrong with the fronts but I may well get all 4 done because I expect the other 3 won't be far behind. I take it from what I've been reading lately that BG motorsports are not the only guys (nor cheapest) in town who can rebuild these now?
I've just noticed one of my rear dampers is leaking. Can the rear dampers be rebuilt the same as the fronts or should they just be replaced? I've noted the part numbers above (8200 519954) who's the cheapest supplier and can I just get my local garage to fit them or is this something Renault...
They are spectacular, I'll be getting a set for the rears on mine shortly
I've had DS2500's on a different car and though they were good the Pagids have hugely impressed me
If you do the odd trackday you'd do well to replace your brakefluid at every service (i.e. once a year) with just a bog standard 5.1 fluid. Its inexpensive and will ensure your fluid is always 'dry'.
Technically brake fluid for 'normal' use is probably good for 2-3 years but given the cost of...
I'm 29, moved to the Trophy after a DC5 so I could save for a wedding. Had bags of fun in it and so glad I got it :D
Not sure what'll be next, or when. Either an M3 or Exige in a couple of years.
Are you quite sure about that
If you increase the coefficient of friction µ between the discs and pads (i.e. by fitting race-spec pads) then you'll get the same deceleration with less brake pedal power.
If you increase µ at the front axle and not the rear then you are 'effectively'...
I've upgraded only the front on mine (Pagid Blues) and the bias is now massively out, the fronts were locking up even in the dry (amazing those Pagids)
I need to upgrade the rears as well to re-balance the brake bias.
In any well-setup track car, the fronts should lock up just before the...
I got my Policy with Avia this year on the Clio, they were £300+ clear of anyone else I tried. Think my premium is £480 or thereabouts, was very impressed
