Best of luck with it @photo_ed , it really does sound like a very life affirming thing to do.
I think there's a bit of an Adrian Newey hiding inside you there Ed, your well able to
make changes to a car and get the most out of it.
Especially when you use one of those, Ed's special heads ;)
Cool idea Ed, sounds like it would be a hell of a way to get some brilliant motorsport kicks and
not have to spend a fortune either.
I would have thought a good roll cage would more than add enough stiffness into the shell,
to make up for any flex coming from a sunroof.
But I would query...
That's a very impressive bit of Mini encyclopedic knowledge Ed.
I know what you mean about the Mini and it's less than perfect aerodynamics.
I remember coming back from Dublin last year on the M1 and getting much past 80/85mph, you'd feel the thing starting to struggle 😁
It seems around...
Thats class Ed.
I've never seen a Mini like that before, must have been utterly bonkers to
see one like that back then, even now it would stop a lot of people I'd say.
That is serious power, and sounds like its driver was a hell of a character :)
Looks like they chopped the roof as well...
Amazing story Ed.
I'm sure the power/weight ratio was quite favourable, especially in the state it was in on the rolling road ;)
The engine certainly wasn't going to be in any danger, lacking fresh air anyway 😂
I would guess that places like that are becoming a lot less common these days...
Ah that's a stunning car @NickReilly063
I actually fell down a deep M40i rabbit hole on Youtube last night.
By all accounts, they are a great thing to go touring in, good pace, nice tech on board
and a decent boot all told. One of the one's being driven was in a lovely red colour.
Enjoy it...
I remember being in an Audi dealership years ago and they had the aluminium shell of an A8 on display.
Cool looking thing and obviously set them apart from every other competitor, both then and now.
After watching one of JayEmm's videos on his RS4, he mentioned this place in Poland
that refurbishes a wide range of dampers for the likes of Audi/BMW/Volvo/MB etc etc.
https://nagengast.pl/en/regeneration-of-shock-absorbers/
I don't know if they can work on the Sach's dampers, or if anyone...
Brilliant Ed.
That made me smile the whole way through that, the driver certainly knew how to get the absolute most from the Mini.
As shown by his two wheeled skip over the kerb, I would have loved to see that in car footage 😁😁
I wonder how it compares to the really top level prepared Mini's...

Obviously it looks like it's been minded like a baby, doesn't appear to have the Recaro's though.
It was even taken on truck/trailer to get its belts changed.
Did they use that colour in the production car Ed?
Surprised the seats look relatively plain, they look like they are trying to look a bit like the ones in the original R5 Turbo, shape wise anyway.
Looks like Renault is having a bit of a clear out, Artcurial are hosting The Renault Icons auction
on 7th December.

Before anyone gets too excited, there's no Trophy's included, mostly a mix of more mundane models,
scaled models and the likes.
Though...
Now that's quite the pairing
Unreal how much Toyota dropped the rear part of the roof to aid aero
on the WRC cars and then brought that over to the road cars as well.
Yeah that makes sense Ed.
Thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten what number the car was.
God bless your memory Ed 😉
I seen the car around April 2017 and from memory it had maybe 18k miles on it, but I could be wrong on the exact number.
Really lovely looking car back then, still looking...
Damn, has that fee gone up a lot recently Nick?
Seems like a pretty chunky minimum fee, especially if as you say, the car your selling is relatively low value, between £10-15k say.
You can tell how special it was by Harrys reaction as he drove along.
He is obviously pretty used to rolling in those upper echelons and has driven any
number of unobtanium cars over the years.
So to see his reactions really tells you how much of an event it was, even for someone like him...
I've only watched the first 10 minutes or so, so far.
I would have never guessed that he's owned it since 1969 or thereabouts.
It's always amazing to look back and see that a lot of the ultimate collector cars nowadays, were just cars back then.
Imagine walking down your local street and just...
I think there is a good chance that Trophy owners will be erecting statues
in your honour Ed!!!
What a find those are, and the best of luck to those who get a set
