Rear Sachs, not sure what you have seen but I wouldn't have thought so. Please share. Renault Parts Direct are a really good place to start if you do not have a good parts dealer close by. They can order in most things not on their website and generally the prices are pretty competitive.

The plates came up very clean after a bath of Deox and have sprayed with their Zinc, still pitted but I will get a decent enough finish. Not sure there is anything on the clamp but I’ll be underneath again tomorrow no doubt, so I will have a look.

Are they really that much? I had thought about replacing mine as I’m currently refurbing them and they are so pitted they resemble Swiss cheese. Not sure about the clamp but if you find a replacement I would be interested to know.

No stupid questions and all that.......... No they are not sided. Just make sure you buy the correct version, I wasn't very clear earlier, you will need the units with a shorter travel so the back of the rear wing does not contact the roof when the hatch is fully open.

I guess most owners will only have advice on one or the other, I bought the SGS replacement which have been fine. They were never as smooth as the original boot don't foul the rear wing. it irks not to have the OE Renault parts but the cost differential means its a no brainer.

Good stuff as I actually have no idea where mine may be. They will apparently clean up in a bath of white vinegar and bleach but they are never like new and its a faff. Also I can probably find the part number of the right angled alarm switch if need be.

I may have a old reg light hanging around but it's pretty yellow and rank, the reason I changed it. I don't know your situation in these uncertain times but they are not that expensive from places like Renault parts direct and look the dogs danglies. Be careful with the bonnet alarm switch...

Yep, pretty unreliable without vernier calliper but by my best reckoning it was just over 60mm and bang on 2.5 inch.

i've mislaid/lent my Vernier so cannot be 100% accurate but i'm currently refurbing the mounting plates so will try my best. I seem to remember 60mm??

Btw, IF it is a Prospeed unit do they not offer a lifetime guarantee?

So it was a Pro Speed unit? I am really surprised about that, I thought they supplied a unit with two small tubular backboxes. Really poor advert for them if it is one of theirs.

I've not seen a big old back box like that before so not sure of the make but that weld is pretty shocking, though it's looks to be the metal around the weld that has failed? I do feel for you but suspect after two years the guy will not play ball and do you want to be spending that time getting...

Also I believe RPD are still out of stock (which at the moment may be ongoing for a while yet) The thrust bearing will come as part of the mount.

Indeed but tbh those kinds of speeds are not really acceptable(?) etc etc for most and I know that when Mark Fish bedded in my first pair he used his own method which worked fine.

Don't get me wrong, I love mine and though crazy expensive they are pretty much worth it. Mine polishes up almost like new after what 13/14 years and the chances are if I sold it I would get a large part of what I paid. Oh I forgot, it also sounds F-ing EPIC.

A guess that accounts for their scarcity, mine was a deal cheaper than that.
