They've not been rebuilt, I got these brand new last year from West Renault when they were £470 each, but instead of the original part, they were replaced with ones as used on Twingo R1 rally cars. The O/S damper failed about a couple of months ago and had it replaced last week under warranty...
I've now sealed the top by stretching and wrapping a strip of rubber inner tube and secured it with some cable ties forming a pretty tight seal. I've also tied the bottom with another cable tie and should now be protected from the worst that winter can throw at them (hopefully). Ok it looks a...
Has anyone found a way of perhaps trying to prolong the life of the Sachs? We know that they can suffer with road salt/dirt so just wonder if anyone else has come up with a solution to protect them. I'm not sure where the failure occurs, whether it leaks at the top of the body of the main tube...
Last year I ordered a new set of front dampers when Wests Renault were selling them for £470 each. Took over 3 months before they arrived, even when I chased Renault UK on a weekly basis. When they arrived they had a different part number and are used for the Twingo R1 rally car. The O/S has...
Great video, great to see someone with a garage like his who truly admires this little red 'shopping' cart! If only they stuck with white, then we wouldn't have pink door handles!! :D
Can't argue with £10

Has anyone checked the price of a new set from the dealers recently? I got a new set last September for £490 each (Twingo R1 spec 77 111 413 and 77 111 414) from Wests of Cambridge. Also Monster Sport Europe who are the official suppliers for these dampers were charging £634 each. I fitted...
If you still have the standard exhaust fitted, you may have to cut it in half to get it off if you can't drop the rear torsion beam and remove the rear bumper. With the clamps, theres plenty of heavy duty ones on ebay or go to northwestperformance.co.uk. Just had a quick look and I think the...
63mm if I remember correctly. I did a fitting guide for this exhaust which you might find helpful.

I used Holts Fire Gum, however, it doesn't work too well for the join between the CAT and the center section but is fine for the joins between the center section and the rear silencers. I've not used hi-temp silicone but others have and say it's better for sealing. But the standard clamp is...
If you want a quiet aftermarket system, the RS192 is one of the quietest. Fitted mine in 2008 and still going strong.

Just a note of something I did when I got my brand new Sachs, I coated the edges of end cap seals with copious amounts of heavy grease to create a barrier/seal to prevent dirt and salt contamination. Might be worth doing on your refurbed dampers too.
TBH I don't think you will, on a track yes, but for the road, not a huge difference IMO. The suspension geometry between a Trophy and a FF+Cup are identical, with Trophy having better damping. The Trophy is an exclusive limited run of the last 182 and because of this, nearly all are pretty...
The 182 FF is a great car, has all the luxury bits and missing in the Trophy like climate control, xenon lights and a slightly nicer interior and as you expect identical performance in real world scenarios. The Trophy has exclusivity, Recaro seats and improved handling with the expensive Sachs...
Thanks for the tips and advice Simon, it's very much appreciated. I'm sure that if and when my shocks need refurbishing I will be calling upon your services. (hopefully not too soon I recently had brand new replacements!)
I'd like to get a set of OE xenons units, the plastic lens cover in my existing units has started to degrade due to exposure to the elements, especially around the indicator area where there is fair amount of yellow haze/minute cracks. I guess I'll wait and see how it all pans out next year...
MarcR, I'm not flaming you for installing the xenon units, I would have done it myself, but the new regs just put me off and I don't have the contacts in the motor trade like you. It's hard enough for me just to get my car to pass emissions! LOL.
It's your choice and I have nothing against...
When I had my 172 with xenons, I remember them being quite bright but strangely the range wasn't that far due to the sharp cut-off of the light cast on the road. I adjusted the beam to point a little higher which improved things a little but I did get flashed every now and again. I was...
