I read a while back, possibly on the CS site, that when someone had uprated their engine mounts the next thing that took the strain of the engine were the exhaust headers which subsequently broke.
Don't forget the Japanese market. Most of their cars have huge tuning potential and very popular as track car projects , eg, Nissan Skylines, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX7, Nissan Silvia/200sx, Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evos etc, and all can be had for silly money
I'd keep the Trophy as it is and used as a daily hack. To get more power, a turbo kit can cost up to and beyond £5k. Then you'll be needing to upgrade everything else to harness the increased power, eg diff, bigger brakes, etc.
With that sort of money, you could get an old M3 (e36) 321bhp and...
The acoustic valve sits in the nearside front wheel arch. It is fitted by Renault to meet EU noise emissions. Its connected to one of the intakes into airbox and a flap within the valve closes to restrict noise/airflow at certain engine speeds. As a modification, some might argue there is...
The dot5.1 fluid in my system is non silicone based. Halfords "high-performance "Dot 5.1 was the best I could get at the time. Still it meets and exceeds the Dot4.1 standard. Only Dot5 fluid is silicone based and is not recommended in road cars and cars with ABS and should only be used in...
I had exactly the same problem recently, coming up to a round about on an A road and nearly parked my car in someone's boot. Pedal to the floor and the car slowed down very gradually, no bite in the brakes whatsoever. Later drove around on an empty road to do some brake testing, did quite a...
I'd take Olliev8's advice. I think you have been reasonable, its been 2 weeks and 2 chances and quite likely to be another week or so of waiting. In the mean time, you're left at a disadvantage with out the use of a car and the value of your car is falling the longer you wait. Call and leave...
Had 2 Michelin Exalto PE2 including fitting, balancing etc for £106 each by Event Mobile Tyres. Excellent service and good price considering I didn't have to go anywhere except back into the rear garden while the tyres were fitted on the driveway. Definitely recommend them.
It would bring a whole new meaning to "grease monkey". Besides, it's too late for me, so I'm not bothered. They call me road kill 'cos I'm always under the car!!
You could also try this. On mine, the near side damper was gone. Its very hard to just push the car down to see if it bounces. What I did was to open the drivers door and then push the top of door frame/side of the roof upwards to rock the car. Also rocked the car by standing on the door...
I've experienced the corkscrew effect before I had the NS damper replaced, braking into a corner at an "above average" speed, the front of the car would bob up and down and the car would sort of wobble around as the outside suspension loads up. Also the bottom of the reservoir was covered in...
Been out again to test the brakes, still no fade and no problem with the ABS, the brakes were literally smokin'! I never reach full travel when doing these extreme braking tests though. Pedal has firmed up a little but I can still push to the end of the travel when the car is stationary but...
The pedal feels soft and spongy. It does get progressively harder through the travel requiring only moderate force to reach the end of the travel, say a little more force than when pushing the clutch in. If there is a leak in the master cylinder, where does the fluid leak too? The brake lines...
You're godlike driving skills must have got you around that bend (tupw)
My pads only have a couple of thousand "easy" miles on them and theres a lot of meat left on them, the discs are OK but will need a change soon. What brake setup do you have?
What do I need to look for if there's a fault in the master cylinder or servo? I don't see any leaks and level in the reservoir seems fine, plus there are no signs of a leak on the driveway.
I didn't quite cack my pants, but yes, it was a close one. I can't see how air could have got into the system. Even before the fluid change, when the car was parked up the next morning, I could still push the pedal to the floor, but again the after a few pumps the pedal was hard to push unti...
Was driving on an A road at speed and needed to slow down, however, the car did not slow down as it should and literally had to press the pedal till it would go no further. The car eventually slowed to a stop right up behind the car in front waiting at the round about. He must have thought I...
Just went out to check mine. Didn't jack up the car or anything, just stuck my hand around the top of the wheel to feel the damper. I can feel a gap of around 5mm between the top of the cylinder and the bracket holding the cylinder. Its the same on each side even though the near side is new. :D
The probability of getting this answer right is slim since you have to factor in an element of randomness that's inherent in all French made cars! Plus it's a trick question since its never just one part that fails!!!
I recently had my front splitter broken on a rabbit's head. Needless to say it caused extensive damage to the splitter, front undertray and wheel arch liner. Am I the only person ever to buy a standard splitter over the counter from a Renault dealership? I considered getted a "carbon"...
Ben didn't mention anything about his exhaust so didn't see it, plus his car was it bits. Maxogen did pop in our conversion regarding the intake, so there is a good chance it will fit!!!
